Don't take communion till you're formally in the church

You might poke through Lives of the Saints if you're interested. You should read Galatians, Ephesians, Matthew, and Romans, in that order, as soon as practicable.

Stick to the normal, orthodox faith - avoid churches with a charismatic focus (speaking in tongues, eg), though I don't think that's much of a thing in the Roman church in outside of South America. Go to your local parish and talk to a priest.

God be with you.

Attend mass, talk to priest after. Don't go up for communion. I'm a cradle Catholic so I don't know how conversion works. Are you baptized?

58ad79 No.545285

Pray the rosary daily if possible or at least some prayer every day. In the morning before meals and at night is good.

No

Not OP but catholic doctrine doesn't look at protestant baptisms as valid baptisms right? Since protestants don't have any validly ordained priesthood?

They are valid if they were done in "The name of the father, son and holy spirit" and with flowing water (no drip)

Don't take Eucharist or wine at mass till you're confirmed Catholic. Besides that Mass will go normally for you as anyone else.

This, and if they tell you that you won't be Baptized until after you've completed RCIA or until the Easter Season, tell the priest that you understand and profess the Nicene Creed (and Apostle's Creed) and that you would like to be Baptized expeditiously in accordance with St. Pope Siricius' letter to Himerius (385 A.D.)

"As we maintain that the observance of the holy Paschal time should in no way be relaxed, in the same way we desire that infants who, on account of their age, cannot yet speak, or those who, in any necessity, are in want of the water of holy baptism, be succored with all possible speed, for fear that, if those who leave this world should be deprived of the life of the Kingdom for having been refused the source of salvation which they desired, this may lead to the ruin of our souls. If those threatened with shipwreck, or the attack of enemies, or the uncertainties of a siege, or those put in a hopeless condition due to some bodily sickness, ask for what in their faith is their only help, let them receive at the very moment of their request the reward of regeneration they beg for. Enough of past mistakes! From now on, let all the priests observe the aforesaid rule if they do not want to be separated from the solid apostolic rock on which Christ has built his universal Church."

Confession, Communion, and Confirmation can wait – Baptism cannot.

A Baptism (performed as a consecration with flowing water over the head in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and as an appeal for good conscience) does not need to be performed by a Priest. It is one of two Sacraments that is not necessarily performed by Catholic Clergy. The other is Matrimony. Baptism can be administered by any Lay-person, and Matrimony is administered by the spouses to each other.

>Advice for someone who wants to convert to Catholicism?

Ignore all the Protestants here, friend.

Have you started attending a parish for mass yet? If not, it's best to start ASAP (even if you don't receive the Eucharist).

When you find a parish, you should approach the priest and ask to join RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Feel free to ask him anything else about the faith, priests are usually extremely helpful. :)

RCIA is a wonderful process for converts, I wish I was one. It lets you learn so much about the Church before being baptized (if you weren't already as a Trinitarian Christian) and confirmed.

May God bless you and I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Note to trolls: if you don't have anything to contribute, then please don't spam the thread.

I know you think you're above the rules and if you get a warning for violation of Rule 2, you will hop IPs and post something about the "Catholic Cabal"; but I'm not mad.

I actually feel nothing but pity for someone so incapable of letting others have a conversation without trying to infect it under the guise of "it's just bantz, m8!" I am genuinely sad for you that you will never survive in the adult world.

Not necessarily, but spamming up a thread where someone is asking how to become Catholic does break the rules.

I've heard bad things about it from anons on the internet. Regardless, it doesn't change the necessity of it and the truth of the church.
