Why are mega churches even real? and how can people willingly subject themselves to them?

16163e No.540927

its more for entertainment than anything. instead of going to a movie or something Normans go to a megachurch to hear some faggot give a semi-christian motavational speech.

Because few of them claim infallibility, and when Christians try to help them find the true, apostolic teaching, the sources get ignored due to the fact it's required to have average reading comprehension with religious paragraphs, which these mega church followers lack.

baac0d No.540933

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,

- 2Timothy 4:3

i used to feel sympathy for the folks who attend 'Health & Wealth' churches, thinking them deluded victims of such false teachers as Joel Osteen or Kenneth Copeland

but then in studying Scripture we see both Christ and the Apostles address the issue of these wolves who pretend to Christianity and see them saying that the people are complicit in this self-deceit since the natural man much prefers to worship himself than his Creator, drawing to himself preachers who will tell him what he wants to hear

this is the model of all false religion, being anthrocentric in nature, it makes man the focus of attention and places all merit and responsibility on him - so the rich can say, "i am so good and righteous, the gods have blessed me with wealth" and the poor will say "i want to be rich but i am not, so i must serve the church better and earn the god's favour" thus enslaving them to a corrupt system

in either case, the natural unregenerate man is focused on his own desires rather than the purposes of The Kingdom - rejecting man's true calling of servitude to the King, making himself his own lord - and in effect, both the rich and poor make an idol of themselves and are damned for it

saying that, i have found another reason to sympathise with such souls, since they are ultimately and eternally Lost unless they repent from this worship of the self - and there, but for the Grace of God, go i

I figure for the same reasons people go to conventions. Massive place with lots of friendly people and some overly non-thought provoking speech of something you're into.

If it isn't shallow enough to make people lose their faith in Christianity or their fellow man, then I don't really see any harm from these if it's what it takes for these people to feel welcomed.

6978b8 No.541671

Nothing wrong with them so long as they're preaching the Gospel.

The single most challenging obstacle to my faith has been my mother, who is one of those "Christians", to the point that hearing any kind of recorded religious anything makes the hair stand on my neck and provokes an automatic combined fury and disgust response.

That's not to mention the endless reams of ammo they provide our detractors.

Megachurches should be destroyed.

Clever. I wonder if maybe they're regretting that name for it now?

Pic only generally related, as I lack anything more specific right now.

>Why are mega churches even real?

Because it is morally wrong to allow a sucker to keep his money.

>and how can people willingly subject themselves to them?

Because there is a sucker born every minute.

Alternative question: why do people find single churches alienating enough to the point where they seek out the community of a mega church? Is it possible that the theatrics negates the subservience of Christianity in the minds of those wanting more direction and authority in their lives?

Brainwashing and 'easy mode' """""""""""""""""""""""""""Christianity""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

They just want to feel apart of something without putting in any work. Protestantism in a nutshell really.

Sounds a lot like protestantism as a whole

So the only legit church is one with 30 - 200 members?!

I mean, srsly, wtf is this shit?

d5241a No.542639

There's a megachurch near me. (Teo hours by train.) I'm tempted to go to it because it's the only one nearby that isn't Mormon or JW.

e556e6 No.542694

Smaller sizes is more personal and manageable, you can talk to your priest and confess and he can help your progress spiritually, answer questions and do holy communion properly. Theres room to do prostrations and so forth…

But I guess protestants don't do much in church, besides sitting and listening?

Why would you ever think that was a good idea?

>>543305

That's what I do. Better to be personal with God than to listen to some idiot talk about how Stalin was Christian. I watch a priest or pastor talk on YouTube, listen to chants, read a random bit of the Bible, pray, and sometimes go here (sometimes because the newfags here cause me to anger).
