Hi sorry if I am asking a dumb question but I'm not really familiar with the origins of Christianity but I'm in the first few classes of a religious history course and I'm learning how many elements of Christianity are borrowed from other religions at the time like the cult of Isis and Horus being symbolic of Mary and Jesus as well as sharing the iconography of pic related and the cult Mithras having similarities to Jesus like the same birthday and being born from a virgin etc.
Aside from that the real thing that got me was how I learned that the Trinity is eerily similar to polytheism while at the same time being monotheist to appease Roman pagans. My question is how does this not discredit Christianity or at least Catholic tradition and how it wasn't lost in the dozens of cults at the time? I have been lurking for a good few weeks since the class started and I'm hoping to start practicing but I wanted to get answers for the doubts I am having.

There are literally none. Christianity is the Truth. All other religions are a lie.

None from Egyptian or Pegan religions. Any pagan "influences" come from ancient Roman Catholicism adding it so it will appeal to pagans at the time.
Most of this misunderstanding comes from Zeitgeist movie, that shills theosophy(NWO) while being appearing to be against the world government. A lot of Religion and secret sects take the symbolism, themes of Christianity. A lot of religions read the OT or parts of the bible.

Then be on the watch. Those are the prime targets of the "educators," and they did it to me too. Once I moved on from those big classes to electives it wasn't as bad. And of course our STEM courses were just fine. I even had a math prof who seemed salty over Konigsberg being renamed once.

I don't get this thinking. Do you guys think that the pagan objection to Christianity was simply that one God is too few, but tritheism was an acceptable compromise?

No, Christianity does not branch from anything. Christianity is the religion of the Israelites, of Moses, of Abraham, etc. Judaism was created by the Jews who rejected Christ and his fulfillment of the laws and the prophets. Judaism is 2,000 years old, Christianity has been going on since Abraham, arguably since Adam.

That first part would be correct, after all there had to be a reason why God picked Saul from among all those who were persecuting the Church. The second part is BS unless your teacher can list actual cases of plagiarism (Zeitgeist nonsense doesn't count, vid related). This reminds me how in school my ethics teacher would tell us how supposedly the depictions of angels as having wings is actually Christians plagiarising the Greek goddess Nike. So I raised my hand and asked him why then the Old Testament has the Cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant also winged. He shut up and never repeated that meme any more.

However it's a little suspicious how he sort of was determined in hammering home that the Romans killed Jesus exclusively, as if implying the Jews were pressured to do something about Jesus but were incompetent so the Romans must have done it on their own behalf. I might not know much at this point but even I know that's quite a line being fed
Also not sure if this adds to anything or not but he also pointed out how the traditionally pictured crucifixion is inaccurate and he would probably not have a loincloth and he was positioned like pic related

Forgot this, but also said that the Jews couldn't have done it because crucifixion was a exclusively Roman tradition and the Jews would have just stoned him to death instead

Some things that might interest christians though was that the Egyptians of 400ish BC had an aversion to pigs and cruxifiction was used during the Persian wars.

The reason the Romans had to do it was because the Holy land was under Roman occupation. The Jewish authorities did not have the authority to execute people, only the local Roman authorities did, which is also why the Jews thought that they had Jesus in John 8(the adulterous woman).
