Generally we have have issues with the Immaculate heart being overly emotional and the apparition affirming some Catholic doctrine so most say it's prelest. You have a few on the sidelines interpret the consecration of Russia as the godless commies caving to Ordodoxy after trying to eradicate it, seeing Fatima as a genuine miracle (just one that's been frequently misinterpreted for political reasons). That's uncommon though.

So we usually gall id brelesd :DDD

If I'm convinced from Holy Scripture and the teachings of the apostles that your church has the truth I would join it, thus far I am convinced that the Orthodox Church has the truth so I remain in it. I can't care less about random supernatural events as there are both evil and good spiritual beings and I can't accept any modern miracles as dictating what I should do or believe over the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the instructions of the Son to His disciples. Right now all I'm seeing is phone videos where the sun flickers, so while I'm not saying nothing happened I remain skeptical of any spiritual involvement whatsoever

It certainly could be a miracle! I don't doubt miracles happen all the time. This event in particular doesn't sound very amazing though. It sounds like it rained in parts of the country and people saw a rainbow (multiple rainbows?) afterwards.

6b3432 No.539772

I thought the same thing. I think the flicker is caused from the camera's aperature attempting to adjust to the sun, as well as the white balance. You can see a similar color shift when it pans over the crowd, out of line with the sun.

Moreover, the people aren't being harmed by the sun for a few reasons:

1) the sun is hidden behind clouds

2) there are no pain sensing nerves in your eyes. You can't feel it when the sun cooks your retina

3) they may not actually be looking at the sun.

01dfcb No.539786

>>539772

>2) there are no pain sensing nerves in your eyes. You can't feel it when the sun cooks your retina

What are you talking about? The only thing that is harmful about the sun's light are the UV rays and if you have ever looked at the midday sun then you will feel pain.

There are also different stances on different Marian apparitions - I can tell you that over here in Frogland, a good deal of Orthodox (if not most of them) recognize the apparition of Lourdes as legitimate, even though the Theotokos supposedly said that she is "the Immaculate Conception".

fd997d No.539799

>>539786

I'm pretty sure the other anon is right. You don't actually feel your eyes being burned when you stare at the sun … it's just uncomfortable to stare at bright light – not like actual pain.

>Just curious, what is the Orthobro position on the Fatima apparitiorkwxmns and related miracles?

Marian apparitions have never been the East's thing, regardless of age, so we are mostly silent on the issue.

7145fe No.539842

Why does Mary do miracles using things that can easily be mistaken for natural visual phenomena instead of like I dunno turning the sun into a huge red cross or something undeniably of another world, it doesn’t have to be so unsubtle, just something that can’t be mistaken for visual distortions caused by weather or the easily induced failure of the human senses. I mean just something that makes me feel like I’m not falling for my feeble, sinful trait of wilful self-delusion, of fleeing from Truth, when I believe in it.

Oh, look, babby's first "lurk more"

It's "lurk moar", newfag.

>You have no idea what that means

Specifically what? The September 23rd crowd or the OP?

Ooooh, I see from your video: "cult". You've adopted the whole 20th century MSM meaning of cults being "them strange people who we h8 because they brainwash people, believe wacky things then kill themselves"

Let's try the dictionary for a moment, shall we?

>a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object

or, better:

>a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular thing

And this is exactly what's going on here: misplaced admiration for the sun's doing magical things becuz fatima.

You seem to think that just because someone slaps a "fatima" label on it, it magically transforms from being "pagan superstition" to "Work of God".

Do you even know what John meant when he wrote:

>Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1John4:1)

What he DID NOT mean was "jump right in and believe it because someone said the word 'fatima'."

AFAIK, the sun didn't scream "Jesus is Lord", so the spiritual benefit of this "miracle" is suspect from the get-go.
