e9790d No.534631

Anyone who wants more info on the Pope, check out this book

>Pope Francis is the most liberal pope in the history of the Catholic Church. He is not only championing the causes of the global Left, but also undermining centuries-old Catholic teaching and practice. In the words of the late radical Tom Hayden, his election was "more miraculous, if you will, than the rise of Barack Obama in 2008."

>But to Catholics in the pews, his pontificate is a source of alienation. It is a pontificate, at times, beyond parody: Francis is the first pope to approve of adultery, flirt with proposals to bless gay marriages and cohabitation, tell atheists not to convert, tell Catholics to not breed "like rabbits," praise the Koran, support a secularized Europe, and celebrate Martin Luther.

>At a time of widespread moral relativism, Pope Francis is not defending the Church's teachings but diluting them. At a time of Christian persecution, he is not strengthening Catholic identity but weakening it. Where other popes sought to save souls, he prefers to "save the planet" and play politics, from habitual capitalism-bashing to his support for open borders and pacifism.

>In THE POLITICAL POPE, George Neumayr gives readers what the media won't: a bracing look at the liberal revolution that Pope Francis is advancing in the Church. To the radical academic Cornel West, "Pope Francis is a gift from heaven." To many conservative Catholics, he is the worst pope in centuries.

The AUDIOBOOK is available here (there's no pdf but I recommend buying the physical copy as it's a good read/listen)

The early chapters are focused on his rise to power and ties with marxism. Chapter 5 is focused on his links to Saul Alinsky and everybody's favorite crypt keeper George Soros (surprise!). Chapter 7 goes into detail about his open borders policy. Later chapters show more of his open contempt for church doctrine and law.

Warning : Listening past chapter 5 may be extremely rage inducing

The pope is eloquent, fantastic with leftist rhetoric which he merges seamlessly into his sermons which is why so many people fall for him. He is pro-amnesty, pro-climate change, pro-gay, pro-adultery, pro-gun control and pro-life. Prisoners lives that is. The pope is oddly silent about abortion.

As someone who was raised Protestant, have been agnostic/atheist for awhile and have recently been inquiring about the Catholic Church, Francis has been one of the biggest impediments to me becoming Catholic. I'm already depressed/blackpilled wrt the state of the world, but having a commie Pope drilling holes in the only ark is making me feel suicidal.

you know there have been popes banging women on the side and loads of other crazy stuff. the fact that the Cat Church has stood for 2000 years with all the corruption and crazy leaders is a testament to it being the church established by God himself.

you don't have to agree with the Pope on all his statements to be catholic. we follow God ultimately. Pope Francis is a sinner like all of us. But we shouldn't slander him. While people who like traditionalism and orthodoxy tend not to like Pope Francis, the fact is that his stance has really softened up a lot of probably questioning agnostics or atheists. I can definitely see how he has done some good PR for the church overall.

I sincerely hope that you find a home in Orthodoxy, and I think that, through catechism, you certainly would. But if you're only interested in it as a protest vote, you're going to have a hard time accepting the Church in its fullness.

Grow up. This is like saying Judas Iscariot being a disciple is enough to put you off being a Christian.

Even if you dislike him, but love the Church aat large, submit, obey. This way you will begin to learn humility.

This is just no even true. I think the baptists on this board would love to know that they are Catholic.

Even if that was true, what is your verdict on the fact that the Eastern church got swamped and nearly eradicated by Muslims, to the point that the only traditional See which is still in Christian hands is, gasp, Rome?

You really need to be more mature. The Church is eternal, the Pope is not.

>>534899

He doesn't support it open borders though, he just thinks we can do more for them. His view is naive I grant you, but really, he has never actually claimed that we should just scapr nations because I don't know "it's 2017 man XDDD"

He has also stated that you need to be firm with them. Curiously he started emphasising this restraint after a trip to Sweden.

FRANCIS of all people and of all popes, of all the history and trials the Church has gone through, the schisms and wars, one of your biggest impediments is him of all people? I am coming off like an asshole right now and I apologize but how well versed are you on Catholic history?

b83b89 No.535106

While I can see why it would make some Catholics upset, I would agree. I for one enjoy having Bibles in the vernacular. Latin is a lovely language, and I could probably read the Vulgate with little issue at this point, but still.

>>535072

It's been like that for quite a while. I have to admit that one of the main reasons I haven't given Catholicism a serious look is the very haughty and often mean-spirited attitudes of them on this board. Perhaps that might be branded as "childish," but the truth of the matter is that most of them here are not bearing the fruits of the Spirit. I have other theological issues, of course (purgatory, indulgences, papal infallibility, and some but not all of Marian devotion), but the posters here such as >>535077 who feels the need to post those in every thread critical of Catholicism are not helping matters.

It's just the flavor of the month and he's a Jesuit (which people around here think is some super-secret satanic order of jews). The people whining about Francis now are the same people who claimed that John Paul II was the last Pope and the Church would die with him (hence, the assassination attempts).

Francis is just a Pope. I don't always agree with him, but he's the Pope. It's like I don't always agree with Trump, but he's still the President. In a few years we'll have a new Pope and the same people will be kvetching and reeeeing about whoever that will be.

>"Surely that good PR will kick in any day now!" the liberal priest says to himself as the pews continue to empty

This post is the modernist error in a nutshell. Meeting people with faulty morals half way won't make them better, it will just make them feel self righteous in their evil. I fell for the fedora and homo marriage meme, was it a faggot pastor playing nice that converted me? No, it was a condemnation of the degenerate evil that is homosexuality by a zealous christian. Godless people without any light in their lives don't need a lookwarm christian that makes concessions to them, they need orthodoxy and an inflexible declaration of God's righteousness.

Of course it is. I'm just saying that in general, I find the Orthos and (most) Protties tend to be more civil on here than Catholics.

As far as the concerns, I find the idea of the bank of merit a very rules lawyering concept, and purgatory is just entirely unbiblical. As far as the Marian devotion, it is not the idea that it is wrong to invoke Mary (I'm not against the invocation of saints in general, actually. I just prefer to pray directly to Jesus). I think my issues are best summarized in the the rosary. I like the concept of the rosary. But I have an issue with the fact that there are more "Hail Mary's" than there are "Our Father's." I would prefer to say the Jesus Prayer on the small beads, with one Hail Mary or the Magnificat or something at the end. The balance feels off.
