It is nonsense. You and I have as much "legitimate" knowledge about it as anyone, because it's a collection of random lies that don't fit together. Just like the flat earth theory, there is no really correct way to do Islam. Or rather, every way is equally as correct, since it's all just lies. I will say though that the doctrines of taqiyya and tawriya make it impossible to debate muslims in particular, even if it were desirable to even do so. The muslim practice of taqiyya and tawriya makes even an honest discussion impossible.
If they're not interested in facts, move on. There's no need to talk about islam or flat earth theory as if it were somehow true. And so once you have acknowledged the fact the Koran is just another set of lies, why even bother studying it? This is what I'd ask.
