Colony builder:
Earth is doomed. Sign of alien life had at last been detected. However that detection was of a massive asteroid being pulled by a solar sail towards earth.
As expected this did not really thrill the populace in general with the the whole imminent death and all.
With an estimated 16 months before impact the goverments went together to create arks. Meant to take the best and brightes. The healthiest and most diverse of mankind to new worlds. Equipped with the most advanced technology of 2047. An advanced SI, genetic labs equipped with embryos and incubators, Suspended animation tubes to keep the crew and populace of 50 dormant for the journey and most of them for the early stages of the colony. Weapons were added with the realisation of the existance of outside threats. Massdrivers and lasers on the arks and Lasers, explosives, coilguns and Oh so many non-lethal weapons in the ark armoury.
The project did not go flawlessly and conflicts arose regarding who would send how many people on the arks and it all came to a point with the nuclear annihilation of Brazil when they held one of the launch sites hostage.
But as the asteroid approached the arks streaked out to solar systems deemed potentially life-sustaining. 6 Arks in all driven by solar sails and Ion engines.
After 43 years of travel the ark is waking up the necessary crew to prepare for landing. Contact with all other Arks has been lost. Wether it's due to catastrophy, equipment failure, distance or something else is unknown.
You are the crew. Thoroughly vetted and choosen for your ability to fill an important role on this new colony. (I won't accept lolrandom characters. they have to have a chance of getting on the ark).
First we vote on:
1. What kind of planet is it?
A. Frozen planet.
B. Arid planet.
C. Barren planet.
D. Volcanic planet.
E. Oceanic planet.
F. Desert planet.
All of these planets ARE possible to have a colony on and have different advantages and disadvantages. if there is life on them is unknown.
2. the arks had slightly different focuses to try to get atleast one to survive. what was the focus of this one?
A. Military.
B. Genetics.
C. Industry.
D. Botaniy.
E. Zoology.
F. Academia.
3. Who is captain?
4. Who is Head of security?
5. Who is chief engineer?

Each turn you roll 2d100 for actions and if you have 1 of the superior positions you can roll a 3rd d100 to do an action in that area.
the success scale is 50+ success with potentially MASSIVE bonuses and penalties to the action. The goal is to make it a somewhat realistic simulation of the success rate of a person with your training and abilities.
for example a person shooting a rifle at 30 meters range with a little bit of trainig at a target would get +-0. while someone with NO TRAINING at all would probably get something like -30 or 40.
Think through your actions. Interact with eachother and be reasonable. Nobody wants to die because nobody wanted to repair the air-scrubbers.

Name: Yuri Petrov PhD
Fluff: Yuri is a headstrong and focused man. Of Russian decent born in the United States Yuri was raised to study hard and learn. When he was young he learned to do basic programming to help teach his friends who were having trouble with classes, so he made simple games. This turned into a love of robotics in his high school years. Taking all the hours he could in college he quickly gained a doctorate in robotics and did research on nanorobotics and their use in manufacturing. In the following years he joined his friend in starting a manufacturing company using methods he devised, sadly the nanorobotics were still too archaic to be used effectively. Yuri researched into materials, chemistry, and a tad bit into engineering to help and soon many products had the Arcadia Manufacturing Co. stamp on them. Some would call Yuri 'obsessed', especially those that knew he did experiments in his free time, but Yuri likes to call himself 'dedicated'. When it was found the world was going to end Yuri was nearly instantly brought on the ark as a scientist and back up engineer, as well as aiding in the programming of the ship's SI.

1/2/3 - While the rest of the ship busies itself preparing for another potential fight, Amari cloisters herself in the laboratory. She sets to work dissecting and analyzing it as best as possible before it can decay. Body structure, nervous, respiratory, circulatory systems, dermal composition, musculature - almost too much for one girl to manage. She takes plenty of samples for storage as well.
>>41856
>Name:
Amari Umberman
>Fluff:
Before the world was threatened with apocalypse, Amari had just finished her third degree. Some would have called her a professional alumni, dedicated more to theory than to practice. She had majored first in Biology, then Paleobotany, and lastly a custom major she referred to as "Xenology", but which most preferred to call "theoretical biophysics". The coursework revolved around speculation, to be sure, but Amari insisted it was based within core biological fact. Her theories on the origins of life are somewhat controversial, pointing to the many asteroids and comets that impacted earth in its formative years, leading to the first bacterial life. The correspondent to Earth life, she said, was somewhere out there in the stars. Her academic success also lead to positions as president of the Student Scientist Union and later the Alumni Organization of Boston University. Her talent for managing groups was remarkable, and won her some local fame for the organizations' works.
Then the asteroid came, and Earth looked to the stars for its future survival. If colonies were to survive on alien worlds, they would need people with an understanding of alien life. Fortunately for Amari, her renown won her a place upon an ark ship, someone who could study and monitor the conditions of their new world. The thought of an alien paradise, untouched by human hands, excited Amari. She would finally get to observe the principles of xenology with real, tangible evidence, and could prove her theory correct!
Most remarkably of all, Amari was chosen to LEAD the expedition as captain! She was uncertain if she was worthy of the role, but the administrators told her that the ship's SI would handle most of the day-to-day relegating. She would just be in managing personnel and making the final call on decisions. Still trepidatious, Amari agreed. Anything to get the chance to explore new worlds. Perhaps under her leadership, humanity could make use of its second chance, and treat this planet better than they had treated Earth. It was unlikely others would have the same respect for nature that she did, but she had to try. What else was this expedition than a trial in hope?

Character:
Name: Yuri Kuznetsov
Fluff: The last great pilot of the Reformed Soviet States of Communist Powers (RSSCP) Yuri was trained on the only "prototype" model ark, and as such was one of the few people to have adept experience flying one of these beasts. Yuri, as a astronaut, was well acquainted with space, and in a joint UN mission had flown as far as Titan, and even walked upon its alien surface. Obsessed with space from a young age, Yuri was not as surprised as many others on Earth when the first sign of intelligent alien life appeared several AU's from Earth, and even less surprised that it was hostile. The universe was a hostile place, much like the very world that humanity evolved on. Such hostile environments necessitated the utilization of scarce resources for survival, and when more then one party, or even others in the same party, desired the same resources, conflict occurred. If everyone you met was more preoccupied with their own survival (which they should be, evolution and instincts ensured that) why would you even give peace a chance? Better to wipe them out when they least suspect it and keep yourself alive and safe. That being said, he still hated them for it, but at the same time relished the chance to finally leave Earth behind and explore the stars, beyond the bounds of this solar system, and maybe even touch foot on alien worlds, and make them a new home for humanity. When Yuri was selected for the Ark Initiative, he was slightly surprised, but very hopeful and excited. Even moreso when he found out that he was to be trained on how to pilot on of these massive ships, the first of their kind ever built by mankind. As an astronaut he was able to skip most of the initial training stages of both survival and piloting, but like many others had to sit through the very rushed but massive courses on all of the new cutting edge technology that made the Arks tick. When he was merely an astronaut, and not one of the last, best hopes for mankind, Yuri specialized in chemistry, more specifically as an organic chemist. Yuri was also picked for another reason, the path he followed before he became a spaceman. Yuri spent 3 years in the Russian military, as a test pilot of the last great jet fighters of the Soviet Air-force, and 2 before that as a conscript in the 4th Chechnyan War. He could handle himself, he had his whole life, from the trenches outside of Grozny to the Methane lakes of Titan.

Fluff: Jonas Barthule was once a simple man from the U.S. with an ordinary middle-class upbringing with a bachelor's degree in robotics and a mechanic's license in heavy machinery. This all changed once he was drafted to fight in the war against North Korea in 2031 as a pilot in the new Steel Legion program, which involved the use of warmechs - 10 foot tall powersuits built more like bipedal tanks but far more mobile and versatile, with interchangable weapons and parts to suit the job. Jonas emerged from the war as a distinguished war hero, being part of the operation that killed Kim Jong Un and won the war. He would serve in many later wars, from the many spats with the Islamic State to the Brazilian war before the departure, and in between he acted as a consultant in mech design, helping to design and test the first flight units for warmechs along with gradually making sleeker, less bulky units with greater range of motion and mobility without sacrificing protection or functionality. In recognition for his piloting skill and contributions to mechanized weapons technology, he was assigned a spot on an ark. Now his new mission is to help keep this crew safe by using not only his piloting skills but also by continuing to invent cutting-edge weapons with the materials he has to help defend against the aliens, and maybe someday to take the fight straight to the bastards.

Fluff: Gregor was born in the United States to a rich family of noble descent. Before the Second World War, the family sold their estates to Hitler and moved to america to start a company. They quickly formed a multi millionaire company and bought their estates back a couple decades later. Born during a golden age of technological progress and into a rich family, Gregor was afforded most luxuries and took advantage of it, attending some of the best schools in the world. Born a second son and not really interested in the family business, Gregor focused on studying Exoplanetology for many years until something happened that changed his life forever. In a boardroom coup, Gregor's family was ousted from the company and soon after, his Father and Grandfather murdered and made to look like a suicide. Through the life insurance money, inheritance, and crafty investing by his older brother, they were able to keep the estates in Germany and stay afloat, but Gregor soon fell into depression. Gregor's hair turned from Pale Blonde to fully White from the trauma and after awhile of staying home, he turned to God. While continuing his previous courses in the Exoplanetological field, he started studies on theology as well and became part of a parish near Rome. His intelligence, money, and devotion to the church soon earned him the attention of The Vatican and he was invited to come study there. The Vatican's treasure trove of knowledge and thousands of years of discipline gave Gregor an even bigger advantage, allowing him to finish degrees years before at most other schools. Gregor's advances in the field enabled the discovery team to find the Asteroid before it was too late and he was put on the Ark Project in an advisory role. Though he doesn't know if the rest of his family was allowed onto the Arks, his intelligence and connection in the church secured him a spot on the Ark and he hopes to make the best of it to secure the existence of God's Children.

This beast has incredibly durable and complex carbon scructures in its cells. Especially in the dermus. It's not quite on the level of kevlar but it's damn close and it's thick. It is also highly resistant to flames. The various cavities and exposed areas of its body seem to be able to close up, Leading it to be extremely insulated and resistant to heat while it closes itself up like this.
The muscles are extremely dense and the muscles of a human body has nothing compared to this. Both for explosive speeds and immense strength there is nothing on earth that could have stood against this thing. The body however is surprisingly vulnerable to electricity tests shows.

Fluff: While not nearly as high flying and famous as the rest of the crew Anton is in charge of what he considers the most important part of the ship next to the life support systems, The Hydroponics bay. While the crew might be able to live on nutrient paste for a period they'd still need his systems to produce the water they drink and help convert excess CO2 back into clean oxygen and his expertise in interacting with any plant life the crew interacts with on wherever they land.
Not to say Anton is without accomplishments it's just that groundbreaking pharmaceutical research or being the source of a new kind of super high yield breed of bean sprout just doesn't get you in the newspaper headlines but it does get your file on the recruiters desk for a chance at being part of an ARK crew of scientists and engineers with the goal of keeping them all fed and watered and ensuring that any food production in the new world won't have everyone dead in a decade from mercury consumption because the plant that looks and tastes like a cucumber is inundated with the stuff.

Name: Jonas Barthule

Name: Gregor Adolf Furst
