I think one of the biggest problems you'd have would be surveillance, both from things like cctv and locals, does the person working at the hotel notice you leave and come back really late at night? They may ask about that sort of thing when the case comes up cold, especially if its in a small area, where you'd be more likely to get away with it, so would be the best option.

As far as gameplay goes, it's very hands off most of the time, you point your ship in a direction and wait, occasionally interacting to change course slightly or react if there's a monster/enemy ship in your path.
