I've been thinking about using ebay, but looking through some posts in regards from scammers has made me nervous. I like the idea of being able to sell/ship stuff easily and without having to deal with people personally, but reading some scam warning posts from 2013 makes it seem that its so easy for scummy buyers to simply file a complaint to ebay for instant free stuff.

What are some places to sell your stuff online, what's the best way to cover yourself from scammers, and what other advice for online selling would I need?

from what I understand dealing with scammers is just a part of doing business. and that there's a constant arms race between scammers and their targets, on both the buyer and seller side.

there should already be a ton of reading material on best practices but I'd spread out the risk so when something does happen so you can learn from the experience without it wiping you out.

I have too much stuff and I would like to sell some old things I don't want because I know they have to have some value but it seems like a massive pain in the ass to go through with it. I've never sold anything before, online or offline, so it all looks so difficult. I would rather sell to collectors though than at a garage sale, and I live in a apartment building so I can't even do that. Should I just go onto Craigslist like, "come pick up my stuff in your truck so you can sell it yourself" and collect a flat payment on my old stuff? I don't have the time to try selling it myself nor the energy to do so.
