Ive been without a job for about a month but luckily i had some money to pay for most of my rent so been relaxing since then.
My landlady suggested I work at dollar store and I gave her a strange look. How can I prepare to not be taken advantage of?

You need concrete values to have hard lines in the sand. Always be prepared to quit if asked to do something you feel is a push toward your hard lines. If you mince words and tell yourself you need your job you're dependant on it. Learn you're mincing words and you mean you want money and never stop looking to keep your options open.
