Bane?

So I was looking through my library and saw that I hadn't read The Kite Runner in a while. I reread it to see if it held up compared to when I first read it back in '05. While it definitely shows less of a mean streak than a Thousand Splendid Suns, one passage did pop out to me.

In chapter 7, page 52, Hassan says 'For you, a thousand times over' in response to Amir telling him to fetch his kite.

What did Khaled Hosseini mean by this? Meme magic has already shown us that memes can reverberate through time and space in both the future and the past. That latter point is important, considering that the book came out in 2003, a full 8 years (or 2 bane years) prior to the release of TDKR.

So brothers, what other pre-Nolan works have you seen that include Baneposting?

We also have Basepostin (1989)

>game is set in the year 2101, clearly a reference to 2011

>antagonist's face is obscured by a metal contraption

>wants to grab your base (= your prize)

>wants to crash your spacecraft with no survivors

>characters utter one iconic phrase after another

I always get nostalgic about baseposting.

Do you guys think the Player Character is an avatar of CIA?

'For great justice, take off every zig' is him filing, calling in and even directly controlling one plane.

Both the Kite Runner and Splendid Suns were pretty mediocre. They both rely on shock value more than actual storytelling or characterization.

Look, this young boy was anal raped! And it turned out he was the MC's brother all along! What a tweest! 5 stars, must be read by all high school students!

All the characters are completely flat barring the MC, and even then both of them show little development over the course of the story.

I never got tired of baseposting. I wish people here on /bane/ did it more.

Pre-Nolan baneposting is a very real thing. In my own studies, I have come across very significant evidence that Nietzsche was a baneposter, as seen in pic related. However, I have no doubt that the practice was well in popularity long before Nietzsche's time. I am thinking of the ancient (bc) era.

King Kong is definitely BBN. The original 1933 film had him crash a plane (as did Peter Jackson's 2005 movie, but with more planes), and the 1976 remake had him crash helicopters and kill hotheads.

And getting caught was part of his plan, as well as the fact that he truly is a big guy (4U).

>book becomes a joke among the students

>"For you, a thousand times over" becomes a meme among the entire sophomore class since we all had that teacher

>she no longer assigns that book the next year

>we memed it to death

This is the kind of baneposting that would make Nolan silently grin. May your plans always matter and your planes always crash.

This is german porn straight from 2002 (turn subtitles on). "Why is there straw anyway?" is a popular meme in Germany, but only we know how much deeper this dialogue is.

Bane has roots in the pre ancient civilizations that we know about today. He probably crashed a large asteroid onto earth in the era of dinosaurs… with no survivores
