From a strictly cartoon aspect, it doesn't matter. Though the younger the male character is, the more perverted the milf appears... which a more perverted female can increase interest, depending on your tastes.

No as to a RL partner... its not a deal-breaker from my end... not in the sense you mean it. People have different kinks, and accepting and respecting that is a good thing. But liking shotacon is very risky to even bring up with your partner, even if they secretly are into it themselves.

In the U.S., nearly every case a person was prosecuted for only fictional content (lolicon and shotacon) came from a family member, relative, neighbor, or significant other turning that person in to the police.

For me, as far as anime goes, I personally prefer their partner to be a teen. Small children are a dealbreaker, as I prefer to at least somewhat visualize myself in the partner's position, which brings me to IRL women, who I'm kind of turned off from if they're into shota-type stuff.
