The movie releases next week, precisely on St. Valentine day. Will it set a new record for biggest flop and stain James Cameron's name?
Hollywood's big productions get defended by a vast system of sellouts, like in the nuGhostbusters and nuStar Wars case. But this one has no progressive cred: it is likely it will be used to publicly chastise anime watchers.
This has the potential of pushing normalfags away from anime, which is a net positive.

You morons have to be total fucking idiots not to understand why they're using CGI. It's not just because an ugly Sephardic kike got given the role. It's to further cement an element of uncanny valley unto Ailita. In the comics she's referred to as being so pretty but artificial at the same time multiple times. If the bitch were to be just a regular attractive roastie the element of being something off with her beauty wouldn't hit home quite as hard.
Is this a lazy choice? Yes, unironically so, but if you fail to see the complete picture as to why, you're a fucking brainlet. Exercise not just your dicks/body but your brain too.

What I never understood about western anime adaptations is that why would you want to watch a eye grating CGI filled remake of something you can just watch right now? I get that the jews pushing this are creatively bankrupt and they're doing it for material. But the people who get excited for this, I would maybe understand if it all looked realistic. But with how much CGI there is in these movies it's like you're watching a pixar film. So say you hate animation so you go to the "live action" movie to watch CG animation. It's not like it's a secret what it looks like. You can see the trailers and promotional images beforehand so you know what you're getting. I just don't get it.
Maybe everyone else thinks the same way which is why these movies always bomb.
But I mean for the few people who get excited for this and go to see it. What goes on in their heads?

Also, there was that Ben-Hur film from a few years ago which wasn't any better, but also wasn't any worse than the original. I didn't say their goal was to make good movies that replace the old in the collective memory.
Replacing the old with their own version is already a success, quality notwithstanding, because it gives them control of the IP. And the public literally cannot acquire new copies of the old works through legit channels. Star Trek is suffering this very fate and Star Wars is next, with the upcoming remakes of the original trilogy.

The problem with Cameron and Rodriguez is that they care more about the artistic vision of having their waifu introduced to normalfaggots than making profit off of them. So I expect that the "big eyes omg wtf I want to puke" shit being posted on twitter and the web in general will kill the film's earnings. Normalfaggots are a queezy bunch, they're the kind of faggots who puke at mexican decapitation videos and pain olympics. So yes, the film is making normalfaggots have the uncanny valley heebie jeebies, but in doing so will effectively kill it's profits, I'm sure of it.

Star Wars I'll give you because current Disney does seek to market the shit out of everything they do these days. But, as for other series and films, the originals are more than easily findable. If anything, I'd say that video game remakes are worse because the last console to play the original games natively were released over a decade ago, and have ceased production for the past 5 years.

With the reported budget and marketing expenses for a movie of this size, it will need at least double its production budget to break even. Not to mention studios only receive a tiny fraction back from ticket sales in China, so if it does really well there Fox won’t see a huge benefit. No.89394

I think rule of thumb is same as production. Some movies can get less or much more. Considering this a Hollywood film, it's likely equal to or greater than the production budget.

Ah, ok.
But it will probably at least break even with China and Japan. Worst Korea already being the biggest profit.

SK doesn't even come close to China/Japan. It's the largest number known for certain. China/Japan has made 114M in about two days. The amount it makes per day is only going to decrease, and this was made over the weekend, not weekdays, so the drop off will be even larger.

A hollyjew movie is to double its budget at the box office, to properly make a profit. And Alita wasn't even that pricey, it was supposed to finance the Avatar sequels with easy and fast cash from the mango-capeshit crowd.

They really went overboard with the big eyes. The first pic or any pic where she has some expression isn't so bad. But then the neutral-ish face expressions, it's noticeably ridiculous.

Understanding how to stylize things and proper anatomy doesn't have to do with anything? Are you fucking retarded, or pretending to be retarded?

>The first pic or any pic where she has some expression
Because it's normal to show emotions with a wide eyed face. The problem is that eyes are a major part of non-verbal communication, and fucking them up 'stylistically' will insert undue noise in the channel.

It is common practice for distributors, to negotiate minimum screening times with local theaters. The poor guys can't stop showing capeshit even if they wanted: it's either capeshit for a month, or never again another disney conglomerate movie.

I want this movie to be just succesful enough that it might incur a sequel, but not enough that they would do it live action again. That way we might get a 2D sequel, maybe animated by a japanese studio.

Well Alita is essentially the most faithful western live action adaption ever. Sure, not a lot of people saw it and it barely broke even because Cameron fucked up with the googly eyes in the advertising, but those who did see it loved it. Who knew it would be so easy to please people by simply not shitting all over the source material in every single scene of an adaptation for once?
No.92434

>most faithful western live action adaptation ever
Not completely correct. It's faithful to the manga's WESTERN release with all the name changes. It does not use the real japanese version's names.
No.92436
>>92434
>Not completely correct.
Yes, it is. It is the most faithful, simply by virtue of everything else being less so, not because it is perfectly faithful. I also can't blame the movie for the name changes, as Cameron tried to be faithful to the source as much as he could from I've heard. Chances are either Viz media would not allow him to use the original names because they're cunts, he was unaware of the original names because he'd only ever been exposed to Viz's name changed left-to-right reading schlock, or both.
