They are more like Code Geass, over the top, loaded with campy "shock value" bullshit and mind-numbingly insane plots that are too ridiculous to take seriously, however they are incredibly fun to watch. The threads related to both shows while they aired were great as well, I feel sorry for those that missed out on that experience.

Both shows are retarded but I highly recommend them to everyone because they're a sight to behold.
