So it really depends on what your little is looking for, and what mix they're looking for.
Do they want nurtings, dommy mommy, diaper enforcer, or a mix of those or depends on the mood.
Building a relationship with your little takes communication; but it's also common that little will be very shy about what they want or like children be over eager on more then they can deliver.
One very simple thing you can do for your little is enforce some basic routine and praise them as if they were a child.
There's a few "chore" apps I've seen folks use where they set up a bunch of tasks for their littles and have them report. Stuff like "brush your teeth", "colored for mommy", "wore a diaper", etc.
