Just found out about this product/company. Most of their products are aimed at babies/toddlers, but they also have a few for kids up to 7 years and adults as well. They look super effective, and also very reasonably priced. Here is the link for the main page

Has anybody ever heard of these? anyone tried them? It seems to me they would be super effective. I wonder though how effective they would be at containing odor. I feel like they may do so really well, or not at all. My understanding of neoprene is that it is totally watertight, so not only will it contain things if you poop, but if you pee in them it should also contain it pretty well, assuming the leg guards are tight enough.

and no, I realize that baby swim diapers are not sealed, which is why I dont really understand them. I get why they are better than nothing, or a regular diaper, but it seems like you would want something that is as watertight as possible. Like what >>63446 seem to be.

Those are flatlock stitches so the material is mostly flat. They are really meant to be looser in the crotch area so the sizing looks off. It's pattern is based off of one's I've seen for kids.
I would try sewing some neoprene but I don't know what material the leg gathers are or how easy it is to come by. I like the look of splash about but I also want the vest to complete the look. I wouldn't ever use use them in the pool(maybe on the way back or in the tub) I just would wear it for looks.
