The ending of the manga was perfect the way it was. It didn't need all this God was the true villain crap considering that the demons proved God was correct. What actually virtue do Demons have? There isn't even a "don't kill more than you can eat" code.

On a rating from superghey to okay, how was the Netshits adaptation of this? They pretty much destroy everything they touch but I never looked into it. I'm assuming pretty bad, because the Death Note thing they did was an abortion and crime against humanity.

Nothing like the Death Note blunder. It did some things better than the manga, did some things worse. I enjoyed it, but I can say that if you enjoy the manga for its unintended flaws like the extreme cheesiness, pages and pages of exposition, and the comical astroboy style, you should probably stay away from it.

Calling it a sequel is a little much since infinite time loops are already established in the Devilman canon.

Violence Jack and Lady are sequels; Crybaby is just another retelling with different details a la Darkside and Shin, the only difference this time is that they referenced Lady's detail of "this shit already happened at some point and is now fiction in this universe."

On a related note, I liked how Fake-Miko ended up being a Aoi Kurosaki expy. Real-Miko still has a spot in my heart, and at least we got to see her squirt>>909413

Now that I'm three episodes in, it is actually pleasantly good. Normally I find the sort of presentation it uses as just disjointed and weird for the sake of being weird in a postmodern sense, but it all holds together pretty well. I don't mind the artstyle either, other than a lack of detail in one sense (less shading and texturing details, everything looks flat, but it allows them to create more detail in other ways since things are more simplistically drawn).

It's pretty clear that although Netflix produced it/contracted it to be exclusive, the Nips had full control over it.
