"I can't believe my imouto is a serial killer" edition

Last thread >>890027 (OP)

While reading Tokedase! Mizore-chan, I saw this reference to Route end so I guess I will write about the work it's referencing.

Route-End

Dude who works in a special cleaning service company (legal corpse clean up) is sent to clean up a serial murder scene and while cleaning up, ends up finding a skeleton below the floor. As his boss goes missing, shit starts getting spooky for him as his team.

What other manga have you found interesting /a/?

So, what if Mitsuboshi colors also had a lolicon fujoshi onee-san as part of the cast?

 No.898087>>898091

Once I had a very realistic dream where I had killed a hoe and stuffed her corpse in some plastic wrap inside a long drawer. Another time, it was just sitting in a wardrobe together with some trash. A third time, the corpse was actually stuffed inside the mattress I was sleeping on.

The building was pretty old and had a trash chute, which people used to throw trash directly from the various floors and into the trash room at the bottom. All accesses were eventually walled due to hygienic concerns (insects crawling up), but the trash room at the bottom was still there and the miasma kept rising up the sealed chimney.

One day a terrible smell started pouring from the other side of the wall, which I tried to plug with no avail. At a loss, I had to move out of the apartment. During the month long battle to stop the miasma, I was informed of the presence of the aforementioned chute. But something always felt off to me, like there was something else in those walls.

It's just random comedy, MC is bland nice guy and female lead is a mute shy girl who is treated as some sort of idol/goddess because she's qt and that's a rarity in japan. Each chapter revolves either around the mute girl or one of the 20+ classmates interacting with her while MC narrates it from his perspective.

The funny thing is that the only memorable character I really remember from it is the troll trap, the rest are fairly bland.

I do think that's true or at least there's a few anons who really love that series. And now it seems like it's popular to shit on it.

Personally, I think it's pretty good. I don't care much for the romance but the art, comedy and hearthwarming aspects are nicely done.

>>898735

The quirkiness of the characters is also a factor. In a good way, since minor background characters have a good chance of being interesting in some way. It's as if the mangaka rolled on the Maid RPG special quality table for every character that he thought would to bland.

I think there's something to be said about characters you can identify with, and a lot of /a/ seems to relate all too well with someone who wants to make friends but just has trouble expressing themselves, which, except for our deliberately average male lead, is everyone.

I think people like the message that most people have their own quirks and weirdness, and that they're far more willing to be nicer than you think they are as long as you put yourself out there.

 No.898846>>898854

I really think that you're just unreasonably angry about this series, or maybe just unreasonably angry in general. It's an "Ok" series, and the overall theme of the series is, in fact, a pretty uplifting message about a bunch of social misfits slowly becoming friends with each other. I never claimed to speak for all of /a/, and spoke in a very general sense about why a lot of people I've talked to enjoy it, not all of /a/ conclusively.

I'm sorry you feel a need to be angry over this, and hope you have a better day anon. Please try and cheer up.

Origin, a lite GITS with stunning combat scenes. Unfortunately there's not much outside of those: there's a distinct lack of payoff for every milestone, to the effect that the cool premise gets progressively neutralized and the story feels like it achieved nothing.

A robot needs to disguise himself to live among humans? Doesn't matter, no one ever suspects him. A godlike AI kept captive is unleashed unto the world? Doesn't do anything but chat with the MC later like a magic girl. The aforementioned AI manages to speak to God? It's just plagiarism from berserk's idea of evil, it lasts like 10 panels and just says to leave him alone.

I have really enjoyed Planetes.

The art is a perfect mix of 1960s scifi and modern technology. It's from an era that is long gone, when the ISS sparked the last fire for space exploration and a few visionaries were dreaming of taking things one small step further. When everything seemed oh so close for the second time in the century, but the difficulties of making those last centimeters were well known and feared.

As I said, the art is mostly a mix of early space-scifi combined with modern tech, so you will be seeing some things that look absolutely beautiful and yet seem like they would work and actually have a reason.

The suits look like a mix of old 1960s apollo suits with 1990s soviet suits. The belts, hoses and straps mostly make sense, as do the rigid elements and fishbowl helmets.

The control tower looks like a mix of ISS and those designs for space stations with rotating sections that were popular in the '60s.

The ships look like the Apollo Luna-landers mixed with Sojus vessels and an occasional space shuttle. It's honestly amazing and the things it doesn't show and leaves to your imagination instead make it even better. You can feel the colour, even though it's all black and white. You want to be there and experience those things too. You get a feeling that I don't really have a word to describe. You really want to go, not just anywhere, but not a specific place either. You just want to leave the place are you are currently at and go where they are. It's similar to feeling homesick, but even after you get home, you still feel out of place. It's hard to describe.

The story isn't bad either. If you have seen the anime, forget it. That's not what happens in the mango. It deals less with politics and intrigue and love, and instead focuses on what is right and wrong, morality and mortality, and it mostly does so in clever ways.

I honestly recommend you to read it. If not for the story, then for the art and feels.

Mangadex is doing some really nice things recently.

First, they removed the "Genderbender" tag from "Crossdressing" manga, a truly Godsend gesture. The "Genderbender" tag became "Gender swap", which I quite didn't like, but whatever, and there's now a dedicated "Crossdressing" tag for the shittasted audience.

Then, they added the "Incest" tag, another Godsend.

The only thing I'm missing now is a "Body swap" tag, because, for instance, Shishunki Bitter Change lost its "Genderbender" tag and there's nothing to identify:

>Hey, this manga has body swap between a boy and a girl

But everything with time

I'd agree that overall "bend" makes more sense, since it also includes times where the transformation isn't entirely clear-cut (e.g. the subject is already highly androgynous and the swap isn't obvious, or cases where the dick grows back for a chapter or two but the female body stays). On the other hand, "swap" does carry some implication that there are exactly two genders.

>and there's now a dedicated "Crossdressing" tag for the shittasted audience.

I assume by that you mean the shittasted audience who wanted to blacklist the tag?

I think the story will get back on track during our lifetime. It's been pretty heavily implied that Ippo is going to become a monster with retard-strength in the ring, like Takamura, and turn all of his opponents into retards too. He's still training with weights, the author went out of his way to show that he still has his stamina, and the one time he "trained" in the gym showed he's faster and stronger than before. He wasn't forced to retire by a doctor and he's showing professional-level penmanship with the comics.

He still hasn't passed Takamura's line in the grass because he doesn't want to become a monster. They've been fixating on the "monster" part after he turned his disciple's face into mush. There's no way this is going to stay a romcom.

I don't doubt that's where the story is headed. The more this arc drags on, the more interesting it's going to be when they send Ippo back to the ring but the issue here is the mangaka's lifespan.

What is the actual process of a manga getting published and serialized? Seeing as I'm not reading from the actual magazines I've never really paid much attention to publishers.

I saw Malleus Maleficarum in /u/'s daily releases lists and gave it a read. It's about a yandere witch, in a setting where witches' powers get stronger when they love someone. Unfortunately, there are some real problems with the pacing, leaving it feeling a little scattered, and giving things have less weight than they ought to have. I think part of the reason for its issues is that its publication status was up in the air. In its only seven chapters there were multiple "further serialization confirmed" announcements, which gives me the impression that it had the axe hanging over it the entire time and the author was wary of the possible need to wrap it up at any moment. It seems pretty unreasonable to strangle a series with that kind of instability.

>MC becomes gal's housekeeper by his own accord while being cranky.

>Brainlet gal tries to help but ends up screwing up and turning the situation into something lewd.

>Forced romance between MC and 1Dimensional gal.

<wow he worried about me getting late, feeds me and cleans my house, I think I like him!

<MC mellows to gal despite her being a massive baggage that constantly reinforced his biases towards gals.

The author probably wanted to make a SOL manga with a cleaning motif but nobody cared because the characters were shit. His editor may have told him to put more romance and lewdness which didn't work either and hence it got axed, he sperged out and ended it the way it ended.

If anything, the trainwreck will make it a bit less forgetable.

That's a given in the scene, but then what the original scanlator did was just bad - stealing their work and becoming assblasted. He should've just contacted them, asked if they would keep on going and if he could trust them with the project, or even refusing it, stating his position saying that he would continue, but then, without fucking stealing. He would have to scanlate those chapters again.

People scanlate for tons of reasons, sometimes they just want to practice their skills, learn japanese or do some random shit because they're bored. The idea that one shouldn't release shit scanlations is kind of weird because you're not forced to read it.

From the groups point of view, if the group is just starting and/or the cleaner/typesetter is inexperienced, they will need time to get better. By releasing their scanlations they can get feedback and fix what's wrong, the dude is autistic because the other group wasn't even asking him to stop, they were doing their own thing and the guy got salty the threaded on his "territory".

It's not like this is a shonen manga. Often as well, there's no "best" group scanlating (like the /a/ vs LHT case), it's just a massive feeling of waste of time, waste of effort, waste of sleepless nights, money and so on.

Some people get greedy and use the money to buy other stuff, like LNs, other mangas (already translated), figures, games, and this wrecks a group's finances, often leading to disband.

The whole point of scanlating is to put something out there for your target language audience to enjoy that they otherwise couldn't. Two groups scanlating the same shit undermines the very purpose of it, you're not trying to be the best you're trying to competently deliver material that couldn't otherwise be enjoyed, sharing a project is pointless and retarded.

You have to be the wrong kind of autistic to not see why people don't want to double up on a translation, people are trying to be and do something useful not waste their time making an imperceptible variation of the same thing.

>What is this an embezzlement case now?

Happens all the time. There are rich groups who don't suffer from that and have "salaries" from donation, but small ones simply can't afford that and really do that for fun and love for manga, with all the money going to raws.

To these groups, when a faggot does that it simply means the end.

>>901991

>waste of time and effort

That's subjective, if the scanlator thinks it's not a waste of time and effort, it's not. As I said before, the motivations for scanlating have a lot to do with how you handle a situation like this.

>sleepless nights

That's retardation, for example, nagatoro is released once in a blue moon, you can take 1 or 2 hours a day to do the scanlation job. I clean, redraw (even sfx) and typeset chapters of like 18 pages each and it takes me around 3 days (around 2-3 hours per day). If you have a whole team the load becomes even lighter and the job is done faster. It's not as excruciating and dramatic as you're picturing it.

And if the result of your scanlation effort is met with "okay, but someone else is doing it too, so who cares?" then it's normal to feel disheartened.

Anon, I was talking about Japan and not the West.

The West is relatively irrelevant when it comes to otaku media.

>It wasn't that big

The first season of the anime is one of the best selling anime of this decade.

On a per volume basis, the SnK manga sells better than Naruto.

Naruto:

73 volumes

Sales in Nippon: 150 million

Sales per volume ≈ 2,05 million

SnK:

27 volumes

Sales in Nippon: 78 million

Sales per volume ≈ 2,89 million.

SnK is the best selling manga that started in the last 2 decades.

>The Walking Dead

Western TV series and therefore irrelevant.

>High School of the Dead.

The manga and anime both had decent sales, but it wasn't big enough to start a trend this large.

Also, many of the survival manga/LN/WN take other elements from SnK.

Because you have bad taste. Murata draws out every encounter, and adds pointless filler, so he can draw more high detail action scenes for his new audience. It's almost embarrassing because while the art is amazing on a technical level the art is less interesting and engaging than most of the webcomic. >Real no Heroine wa Irimasen!

This is a special kind of fuck up where the train fucking flips upside down then the conductor goes "full steam ahead".

>guy finds a girl about to be raped by main rapist and other two side rapists

>calls the police

>rapists run

>said girl is a delinquent who falls in love with MC, dyes her hair/goes tsuntails because he likes it and whatnot

>delinquent girl was raped once drugged and raped by the main rapist at school

>MC doesn't want used goods/3D at all

>also, bad rumors about this girl from popular girl because the main rapist is the son of a influential guy

>rapists try to rape her again, this time in front of MC and main rapist tries to stab MC only to be stopped by the police

here's where shit goes tits up

<rapist father is actually apologetic and a nice guy, all his son's threats were empty threats (only believable part of the story)

<main rapist that not only drugged the girl but actually tried to rape her twice, and would've succeed if MC didn't stop him, and also fucking stabbed MC to death, is actually just a nerdy dork that's not good with girls, fell in love with delinquent girl and drugged her but only pretended to rape her, she's actually completely pure virgin

Then the story pretty much is over but mangaka wants to go on, so

>earlier in the story MC talks about his dislike for girls because he was invited on a date as a prank and stood up three times

>gyaru who did it one time enrolls in school

>story is now about becoming more popular than the gyaru who somehow likes MC it'll probably end up with "I stood you up but I actually loved you" to then remove the bad rumors over the delinquent girl

>last chapter ends with "but something happened to delinquent"

>author has no fucking idea where he wants to go with the story

MC is a pathetic loser with quite literally 0 redeeming qualities but somehow attains a harem of really cute super idol-tier girls, the best girl in his harem (which he himself admits to be incredibly cute and appealing) forces herself to be his gf but he keeps leading her on because he's too busy lusting over the in his very own words 'unattainable' title girl and is too pathetic to properly reject best girl, he spends several pages literally every other chapter doing the same "OMG SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT I'M NOT WORTH HER" mental monologue (usually about title girl but sometimes the others) while still rejecting everyone except title girl, every time something happens he spills his shit and/or starts shouting for no reason instead of talking normally, and because everything wasn't retarded enough his ex gf then comes out of nowhere and starts getting into his business and bitching at the other girls even though the whole story got it's basis from her dumping him.

>before: Robots fighting each other with robot abilities

<after: OHM! I have been enlightened by sex, now feel my telekinesis!

This manga was going downhill for a while, and the entire boss rush has been shit.

The best parts were his interactions between humans and his autism, but that's gone; he developed emotions and there's no humans around anyway. The fights used to have impact, stakes, and a sense of desperation, but now they've become downright boring.

That was why I made the comparison. But as funny and great as its concept is, I prefer the MC to be a girl, especially when she's that sexy, and one of the few I even prefer flat too.

This is why you download everything you want to read before you read it, doubly so because their site is a satanic javascript abomination. Even if all image viewers are shit, any of them is better than webshit.

I'm comfy reading my ecchi right now.

Renjou Desperado is like the Bizarro world version of The Lies of Sheriff Evans. Instead of a very talented gunslinger looking for love in a strangely-Japanese Wild West, it's a very talented female samurai looking for love in a strangely-Wild West Japan.

It would be better if she didn't have such obviously poor judgement, of a different kind than Sheriff Evans' autism.

These were good chapters. It redeemed itself with this latest release. The previous several chapters hadn't left me very impressed, with the walking home drama feeling very unnatural, and chapter 15 was a mess.

When Takamine said the line in chapter 14 about the two having known each other for three months it took me completely by surprise, because both the pacing of the manga and their interactions with each other failed to convey anywhere near that much time having passed.
