It's furshit. If there was no stigma surrounding furries, if furries weren't cancerous degenerates, then this would be a mildly interesting, but none too fabulous manga.

As is, it's tainted by the community who would enjoy it, and thus isn't worth delving into.

On the other hand, if you redrew the entire thing with Kemonomimi, it would be lauded as the first of its kind because it's not fetish fuel. It's remarkable in that while it has fetish-adjacent aesthetics, it never jumps into "the artist drew this one-handed" levels.

An anime adaptation has been announced and it will become known as "The Furry Anime", far and away more so than anything Mamoru Hosoda has ever made. There will be massive shitstorms over it with furries flooding half/a/ with their degeneracy. Thankfully we should be safe here, but if not there's always the bunker. I've never understood why people have such vehement hatred for the style of character.

I never even see any reasons given. Everyone just changes the subject and talks about irrelevant things like Western artists.

There's nothing wrong with the style of character itself; the Japanese use it with no problems because "furry" as a concept doesn't really exist over there. To them, it's just a style of character, like it is to most of us a pretty big assumption. But in modern western society, there's this popular idea that people need to base their lives and identities off of their own sexual fetishes, and furries are the most rabid and loudmouthed of any of those in existence. If a work has something that can be interpreted as being remotely furry, it can and probably will be hijacked by furries in order to spin it around their own fetishes. To invoke the furry is to invoke the name of an eldritch god; brush it under the rug and move on before the conversation and anything in its vicinity is overtaken by a bunch of STD-ridden cocksuckers. The vehement hatred is born of fear of the implications of the style because of this, rather than with the style itself. Can't even fucking talk about Pokemon without these demented freaks coming out of the woodwork.

I'm aware of how obnoxious furries can be. But if the issue is just with obnoxious furries, then there's no issue, since we already have rules and moderation in place to deal with obnoxious posters, furry or otherwise. There's nothing to stop us treating it like anything else.

I'm not going to refuse to enjoy something just because I know that, somewhere else where I never see them, there are people I don't like enjoying it too.

That said, if I recall the last time this series got brought up in the manga threads, it didn't look much good, so I'll probably pass over it anyway.

Call me again when Tamamo-chan gets animated.
