I've been trying to decide if it was a flawless anime or not. I'm leaning towards no, because for all the yuri teasing, they haven't gone far enough. If there's a second season, and they go full gay in it, then I'll consider this season good, too. These last two episodes have very slightly brought down the mood also.
Still it is close to being a masterpiece, makes me glad that you can make a high-effort, high-budget anime about nothing but two girls doing somewhat gay things while comfy music plays, and have it do really well.

Feels like the old idea of you do the big dumb popcorn movie to fund the indie film you really want to do. Cygames said as much way back, that they were gonna do mobile to fund the games they really wanted to make and they are doing it now. That and the bunch of anime they are helping fund. I bet this show was a bit of a test, a short show is a good place to do that. The japs are skilled at hunting whales, glad that some of them are using that to bring us some fatty tuna too.

The whales pay for the anime directly as well as through the mobage.
Shows like this and Uma Musume sell far more than they normally would because there are mobage codes included with the BDs, which the whales go nuts for. I'm not complaining; even if it's artificially inflated, I'm plenty happy to see shows like this have the appearance of being big hits.
