EDIT Overflow thread: https://smuglo.li/a/res/450384.html
It's almost that time or it's already been the New Year for many anons! Let's kick the end of the year off with a bang and start the New Year right, everyone!
I'm not sure how streaming will go tonight since I'll be bound to the kitchen or card table for most of the evening, but I'll try to do right by anon as much as possible! My one selfish request is that you make sure to pour one out tonight for the anons who didn't make it and look forward to a bright future.
How are things going, anon? Did you have a great Christmas? Are you gonna celebrate with your waifu tonight? Feel free to send in /r/s throughout the night (but realize I reserve the right to play or not play them, and if you don't provide a file I can't guarantee I play the right one, and I might not be around to play them during a specific set of songs). Vague /r/equests will likely be ignored as will bulk requests. We'll move over to the bunker once the r/a/dio thread fills up here on /a/. Other than that though, let's enjoy the evening together. Yellow Blue Bus.
Oh and before I forget, as a TorpedoThread, this will get deleted some time tomorrow night or Wednesday, so make sure to post your New Years on this thread as well: >>892744
I believe mganon is video streaming tonight, so make sure to check in on that too if that's more up your alley!

If you lie be sure to die
We are here to purify
We will rinse your shame with blood
White snow is red flood
Only saints can survive
Just repent, the end is nigh!
SNOW PIRATES, YES WE ARE!!
SNOW PIRATES, YES WE ARE!!
You're a liar liar liar DIE!!
You gonna feel my fear!
We came so far
We'll leave you scar
SNOW PIRATES, YES WE ARE!!

They aren't tank games per se. But they are strategy games that pretty much get you the closest thing that you can get on how tactics works on the real battlefield, involving artillery, infantry, tanks whatever. If you enjoy realistic games I definitely recommend them, but they are pretty expensive, so you should consider that before buying it, if you don't find a way to pirate it. I'm currently having fun blasting Syrians in Shock Force 2, but that involves modern weaponry, which I don't know if you find interesting. To keep it short the old order that had maintained Europe up to the war was already falling apart under social/economic pressure due to the rapid pace of technology, increased social stratification and availability of material goods. Men no longer had to rely on one another, their women and families, God, or a connection to nature. Everything of value that helped keep men in concord with each other was ripped from them by the trauma of rapid change and bloodshed.

I've been looking for a screencap that addresses part of this, but I can't find it. So here's the interview it references, one with Akira Kitamura. Protomen stuff seems to catch some of the spirit of Megaman in a way lots of /a/nons can relate to.
>Kitamura: Yeah, the “serious” quality you’re talking about is different from where Mega Man later went. I think I understand you. You know, just the image of Mega Man standing there: there’s a sadness to it. Even his sprite has a certain gravity and seriousness to it. How can I put this… for me, when I see a young child playing alone, in a park or in the middle of the street, playing by himself there… there’s something so sad about that sight, it can almost bring me to tears. And there’s something similarly lonely about Mega Man.
>For example, in the backstory I wrote, Mega Man alone is equipped with the functionality to turn himself off. That very fact imbues him with a sadness. The other robot masters were made for some kind of specific job or work, so there’s no need for them to have an “off switch” they can control. However, a robot helper like Mega Man can make his own judgments, and therefore can decide whether he’s needed or not. That bit of backstory also reflects the serious feeling in the writing that you mentioned you liked. The sadness of being a robot is having this inorganic existence.
>Kitamura: The heroes I used to love were always strong figures that you could look up to. They were different from the heroes of today, who are drawn more sympathetically, and who you’re supposed to have something in common with. To me, a hero embodies the “virtue” that we all have in our hearts. We all have it, but most of us are too embarassed or scared to show it. In that sense there’s something childlike about heroism. Heroes are the people who are proud to show that side of themselves to others.
>They have a lonely existence, and they will bear any burden—even when not being watched over by others—simply because it’s the right thing to do. I like heroes with that childlike purity and idealism. Someone who can still believe in what’s right, even when others says “that’s not realistic.” I think when a person encounters a hero like that in art, they can learn a lot from them. That’s the kind of hero I wanted to create in Mega Man.

>An anime based off of a manga where a faggot called 'Train Rider' goes around and rides trains
>Its even called; Train Rider
>Shows how bad things really get when the trains are running late
>Its not all nihaos and bonjours
Okay,
<"B-but feel bad for the people he hits!"
What the fuck is this? Taim Honks? Gata goto choo choos? God damnit, you see what those thing do to people?! I get that its supposed to be hertwarming for the Conductor, but making the viewer feel love for the stations"? Then they hint; "Oh, well, maybe not all train are fun?" Are you fucking kidding me? Why not give it anothe name, like some generic Fantasy name? Why call it; "Riding Train," when you try to make the notion that, at some point, trains is fun?? It's like calling 'Berzerk' : 'Claudito' and making the final part be about how Claud doesn't ride trains and love statoins and that hes not even drunk! What sort of bi-polar thinking is this? This shouldn't be complicated! Its called; Train Rider, its about a faggot going around riding trains because it is fucking fun that should be exxperienced. Not: "Hey guys, we know that these thingas are trains, but, maybe we're the real faaggots."? Right?" Okay, if you're going that way, then call it something else! Or maybe make the Train Rider the train? Don't pull this fucking shit out and expect it to make sense, or even be tanoshii!

I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Claud; the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end... because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was, when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Claud, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
That there's some good in this world, Mr. Claud. And it's worth fighting for.
