Fuck yeah. This was my AOTY. I loved it to pieces. It was really well directed and Tachibana was the cutest thing ever.

The anime and manga cover the same stuff, just the manga has a lot more interactions between the manager and Tachibana. They both finished at about the same time, and a lot of people were really upset that they didn't end up getting together. I believe the mangaka even got abuse and such about this. This is all nonsense since those people are missing the point that their relationship is not a romantic one. They are both people who have been hurt, have lost sight of their dreams, and have found each other in their pain. They provide each other support and a new lease on life. It would have been easy for manager to accept the feelings of a beautiful high school girl, but such a relationship would not have been healthy for either of them. They would have still been unhappy. The anime has a nice end in this, that they will both go achieve their dreams and then they can find each other again.

yeah that is pretty much the moral lesson I described.

I think this might have been the thing that crushed her. she probably wanted to be an olympic runner and then has to throw it all away in a blink of an eye. This is why I wondered if she was always like that (gloomy, very calm). I mean, she confessed her feelings to the manager straightforward without any hesitation. Twice even.

All in all the manager is morally always 100% correct.

Also his life lessons to her were always good advice.

But he cannot deny that he likes her very much.

Indeed, Ame Agari was my AOTY as well.

Highly under-appreciated, an overlooked gem that left a huge mark on me. I'll remember this one for all time thanks in no small part to finding Tenchou as the most relatable and easily self-insertable male character in recent memory (Although I am some time off from being at his age in life, I know full well those are the feelings that await.)

Also an amazing show to watch for anyone feeling the nostalgia of those dreamy, hot Summer, Japanese urban landscapes; The atmosphere in this was so vivid it took me back to my trip to Nihon.

The most remarkable thing about this entire fucking show was that it broke my heart without me even realizing it until it was far too late.

Here's hoping an anon or two more will pick it up.

Great anime, Tachibana a CUTE. I especially liked Tenchou's inner-monologues.

Yeah, somehow it had this magic that rarely can be found anymore.

Everything fits together perfectly. Music, characters, sceneries and visuals.

Incredible how much emotions they can deliver with so few dialogs.

I remember this one scene fondly

A few episodes later Tenchou tells Tachibana how she always comes out of nowhere on a rainy day.

I wonder if the rain is representing the unhappiness she is carrying with herself since her injury.

Or this other scene where she is desperate to find out which of the cinema booklets she has was the one from her date with tenchou so she can keep it with the bill from the cafe

It is incredible how atmospheric everything becomes through those little things

Or when she told haruka the reason why she liked running

there was no deeper meaning to it

it just felt good to her to do it

or when she taught yuuta how to run properly

or when she prepared a meal for him

it is always those little things that are remembered

As described in the OP, I love another girl with similar looks.

Long black hair and reserved personality, just like Tachibana.

This is why she (and usually any girl of that type) always grows dear to my heart.

The other mesmerizing things about Tachibana are her gorgeous eyes and her long legs. Whoever created her had great taste.
