Some manga that caught up my attention recently:
Jun and Kaoru
<Gender Bender "romance"
>Jun and Kaoru are next-door neighbors and childhood friends with an incredible secret: at midnight, their bodies change sexes. This is their story of casually supporting each other and having as normal lives as possible.
Pseudo Harem
<Autistic girl becomes various types of girl for her beloved dense senpai
>A manga about a girl who's really good at acting, and the senpai she likes.

That said, yes. I have a number of things I love to hate. Most notably is probably Dungeon Seeker. On /tg/ it's commonly referred to as"The Edgiest Isekai Ever" and it earns that title.
Take the most cliche and edge-lordiest tropes ever. Now string them together.
>MC and friends get transported to another world by a sadistic kid-god.
>Bully immediately dies because he spoke out of turn.
>MC gets lowest stats, but then gets an ability to steal abilities from enemies he's beaten
>Leading Lady cucks him in the first two chapters
>He beats an invincible Grim Reaper monster and gets a Pistol out of it.
>Puts all his stats from leveling up in Dex.
It's so goddamn terrible it's more like a comedy in how bad it is.
And the LN is even worse. The Manga is just so-so Edgy, because it tones down the LN, the LN is THE Edgiest Isekai.

Reminds me of another author that died. It was this Harem Manga I can't remember the name of. Firstgirl was a tan-skinned amazonian they claimed was from Africa, but really was just an athletic Gyaru.

I think it can be used in some senses when it works, it's just that typically you'd go with something else. When you try to imply that someone is adult-like or cool, or when you have a casual relationship, or specifically pointing out the gender. Very similar to "woman" in English.
No.891945
>>891940
No, nigger.
>When you try to imply that someone is adult-like or cool
For that you don't need to bring gender into it, you can say they have 大人げ or call them おねえさん, or for a middle-aged married woman you might say 奥さん. Using a term that just implies the person is old doesn't necessarily imply that they're also mature, and since this is women we're talking about you never want to call them old in the first place.
>or when you have a casual relationship
It would have to be casual to the point of being disrespectful. Again, 女 by itself is "woman", like saying "Shut your mouth, woman." or "He shouldn't listen to that woman.". You must have heard characters in anime say things like 「あの女ー!」 and it's usually translated along the lines of "That bitch!" for a reason. You have terms like あいつ which fulfill the casual language requirement without having to specify gender either.
>or specifically pointing out the gender
I'd stay that's what 女性 is for, since it's literally "woman sex" and it's very neutral, like the equivalent of "ladies" as in "ladies' restroom" or "female" as in "female hygiene".

With the first one I'm talking about subtleties, not explicit meaning. There are better words to use, but I've heard it used that way. Same with woman in English, actually there are equivalents in every language I know, and it's never a 100% hard line that people mustn't cross.
Third, girls use onna on themselves. Watashi mo ichiou onna dakara. I don't know if josei would work in this in nip, but I know in English only woman and girl would work in the same phrase. Here woman/onna are meant to imply that they fit into the general image of "woman", with all the standard expectations of what a woman is like, not just talking about gender.
Also the phrase "ii onna" is generally used for younger girls too, "ii joshi" I've heard much less.

No, wait a second, I'm a writer and have been publishing on online platforms. There never was any question of cancellation, because with the absence of printing costs comes the absence of the need for results. Hosting pics costs very little for a server owner.
Licencing and the threat of cancellation sucks but makes sense when the publication costs money to print and spread all over the country. It is absurdly meaningless on a website. Amazon and steam are high-level kikes but they wouldn't dream of enforcing the need for immediate results on any no-name publishing shit through them. Just what the fuck is going on here?

I think the problem is mainly promotion. It's never been easier to publish but also never been harder to be seen. You see that problem with Amazon and Steam. Being independent and making big bucks is a one in a million shot. Not to sell the importance of distribution short - I'm sure a significant percentage of manga is still sold in physical bookstores - but these publishers work hard to get eyeballs on their products.
No.894710
>>894704
It has a physical volume release, which probably sold like shit. The odd thing is that, despite that, the latest chapter had a vol 2 release date announcement.
Actually, was there ever an official confirmation that it was getting cancelled? All I found was speculation, with it initially being the mangaka wanting to kill the series but being contractually obligated to finish. That would make more sense than "the manga is getting cancelled at ch 9 so ch 8.999997 lmao".
No.894711
>>894708
All of that is very true, online publishing is basically free but pissing in the wind as far as the chance of reaching a viewership goes..The question here is why in the fresh hell would a publishing platform cancel a series that is costing them nothing in the first place. And, for that matter, how they could have the power to stop them from publishing more in the first place.
A freelance editor seeing no results after months of work and giving up ? Sure. I'm certainly no stranger to that. But that is entirely the unsucessful creator's choice here. Someone who publishes something online and doesn't break four digit views literally doesn't cost anybody anything.
Cancelling an online-published manga makes about as much sense as Kadokawa deleting posts on an anonymous imageboard because they don't bring them the big bucks. It would also mean that indie mangaka publishing to such sites would have to give up their very fucking copyright on their creation, the only way the publisher could possibly stop them from doing more elsewhere.
No matter how I consider this issue, I see only pure madness.

Following up the new releases daily at manga sites, I've come to the conclusion that we've left the harem period, then left the isekai period too, and we're downright in a gay era.
Either that or the only scanlator groups left apart from the mainstream ones just translate gay stuff.
Shoujo Ai, Shonen Ai, Yuri, Yaoi... There's simply a barrage of it, literally flowing nonstop (and none of them fully fledged stories, just gimmick-like ones with less than 10 chapters or so).
These stories are complete crap and, added with the real shit that are most of the manhwa and korean webcomics, make for a real bad experience browsing.
It makes you lose hope completely in manga, it gives a skewed(?) vision of what's being released out there in Japan and it attracts the worst people ever to the fanbase. No wonder more mainstream anime/manga sites are brimming with the shittiest people life can provide. This seems like the Tumblrfication of manga, with loads of gays and lesbians taking over (ideologues at that, lazy translators at that, mentally like whitepod at that).
I'm really fearing what developments these may bring. We have some anons here starving for good stories and having to post dubious manga instead because there's this scarcity of readable material, there's too much noise, too much crap.

I think I know the solution. Better solutions for content discovery. For example, Mangadex finally added filters so you can get all the isekaishit off the front page. However, it's not a very good solution - it doesn't work on the top chapters page, and despite the increasing granularity of the filtering, it still has no way to filter all chinkshit and gookshit. Substantial work needs to be done to improve the discovery of diamonds in the rough as opposed to the popular trash. There are gems being translated that struggle to get a couple thousand views, and while threads like these can help us on /a/ to find them, many wallow in the muck of mediocrity. It would also help if scanlators put even a little more effort into digging for untranslated content. I myself am guilty of this; the best tool I have for this is Amazon store suggestions for the ones I translate.

Publishers don't announce that a series is axed, they just announce that it's ending.
That something was axed is in 95+% of cases mere speculation.
In some cases it's obvious that a manga got axed (when it's unpopular and in a big magazine).
But in most cases it isn't clear if a series was axed, if the author wanted to finish the manga or if it ended for other reasons.

Another wasted potential mango, Buta Koushaku ni Tensei Shitakara, Kondo wa Kimi ni Suki to Iitai.
>anime about a handsome guy that gets a harem in magical academy
>antagonist is a fat rude OP fuck that is hated by everyone except his maid who then gets cucked out of him by the protag later on
>MC dies wishing to go to anime world
>actually does
>except he's the fat fuck instead of the handsome protag
>already knows what's going to happen, so he decides to exercise and be a nice guy in order to stay with his maid
I liked the setting, it's different from "you're hot now and everyone wants your dick, people who dislike you are bad and everyone who's neutral will love you soon" and it had the potential to be a cute love story about the guy redeeming himself and loving his maido but
<first thing he does is to befriend the chick that's supposed to be part of the protag's harem and get the teachers to like him

From what I heard, some chapters later it just turns into moderate sexual bullying with only light torture.
As someone who has been interested in the military and survival, this mango really triggers my autism from what I've read so far.
The average teen boy can typically overpower the average adult woman
Outside of fetish material, arm shackles with long chains were phased out of jail/prison/military use almost a hundred years ago because the chain can make an effective strangulation device. Common shackles used now are thick with a single heavy hinge joining the two parts together or with an extremely short chain, difficult to strangle with or break free from.
Most military, prisons and even paramilitary nigs in Africa escort captives in groups of two or more, never alone. One of the primary times to escape captivity is during a transfer from one location to another. Also being alone with a captive runs a high risk of assault.
And plenty more problems. Mango seems to just be more bad fetish fuel than actual torture.

I had a look through the recently posted lists and the top read of the past 6 and 24 hours, since that anon is so eager for more.
Zomviguarna caught my attention and I hoped it would be good. It's a living corpse girl with a fetish for being sutured back together by the young doctor she travels with, which is often necessary while they travel and fight the zombies (mindless ones, distinct from her) that plague the area.
Unfortunately I'm not convinced so far. She's a one-note character whose one note is "dog in heat for the professor's needle". I'll give it a little more time, since it's a premise I'd very much like to like, but so far I'm not hopeful.
Something like "yandere zombie action-romcom with an emphasis on dismemberment and reassembly as a sexual act" is a pretty specific premise, and it's always a shame when you find something whose idea ticks a lot of boxes for you, but ends up mediocre.

I'm sensing it.
Jump's last golden age, with Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, One Piece, Gintama and Bleach is over and dead for years.
The late 90s and early 00s was a master era of shonen battle manga, but then, everything changed.
The Ecchi/Harem era came, with things like To Love-ru steamrolling and cuting ties completely with the past one.
Then, due to the lack of successors, these old manga had to overextend themselves into hundreds of chapters, creating even distaste for them.
By this time, romance stuff and specially visual novel adaptations started to pump it up, with Lucky Star, Haruhi, Type Moon, OreImo changing the waters to some transition zone, an uncertain period where everything was game and stories were filling power vacuums left by the Jump's slow rot.
After that came the Isekai era, specially Video Game Isekai and then with Afterlife Isekai.
We're experience the end of this era.
We can feel things are running dry for this type of stuff.
Parodies are everywhere. Self publishing and daily ones, short stories.
The era is over.
We're entering a very saturated era now, things must be fast paced, release fast, be full of gimmicks to catch your attention.
Sexualization went to the roof. In the Ecchi/Harem era, there was a lot of it, but most was bra+pantsu.
Now, specially with the more strict laws concerning porn in the media (and what I think was a major cause of To Love-ru's death and the author's disappearance), things have turned into full fetishism. Every single kind of fetish is out there, again, everything enveloped in a crappy package, with poor quality all over it.
This Fetish Interregnum is running its course as well.
The future is uncertain.
That's why I'm sensing it
There will be a purge soon, and new behemoths will appear to unleash another era, close to that last Jump's one.
Or is it too late? Has japanese (and world) demographics put their society in a point where there's no more money to be made with an inexistent youth?
Will they keep catering to perverted NEETs with shitty not-funny office comedy stories of traps?
