It's obviously the whole abandonment thing she's been dealing with for the past few chapters, and which was directly stated on the first page of this chapter, but the author dropped the ball on conveying exactly what made her 180 so hard. I can't even tell if it was Komi turning away to talk to the shopkeeper making her feel betrayed that Komi wasn't paying her attention just like her mom didn't, or whether she suddenly felt guilty seeing Komi struggling to talk to shopkeepers for her sake.

I don't think it's about abandonment, it's about the persistence of her relationships. She was taken away from her friends at school and neighbor if you look at the first page again. She didn't want to get attached to something so she wouldn't get hurt, but she ended up becoming a part of the family doing things like chores and shopping and didn't realize it until she called Komi her sister. She also clearly like Tadano, probably because it was the first time someone gave her something she wanted. She loves these people and is convinced that she will be taken away from them.

"Abandonment" was the wrong word. I did mean to include the relationships that had to be broken off, not just the lack of attention from her mom.
The problem with the way it was presented was the panel of Komi standing with her back to Rei and talking to a shopkeeper. There would be nothing unclear if she'd caught herself saying that in a conversation with Komi, but there is ambiguity introduced by the fact that she was trying to talk to Komi, but Komi wasn't listening and was talking to someone else. Is it solely the fact that she called her like family, but caught herself and tried to close back up? Or was the more significant part that Komi wasn't right there when she said it, reminding her of previous cut-short relationships? Or was it the way Komi was shaking and struggling to shop for Rei's sake, with Rei not wanting to cause Komi trouble when she thinks they'll part soon anyway?
