I know I'm late to the party, but holy shit.
I just want people to know that this was AOTS after all. High Score Girl and Chio-chan doesn't even come close.
When do we get more material? Isn't there supposed to be a musical StarlightSubs will be subbing? The manga still seems to be ongoing but how don't know if it even covers the same stuff as the anime. I'm not sure if any other medium can do the anime justice in any case. It seems to be something that needs anime as it's medium.

I just checked nyaa for the musical and it turns out the first OVA's already available.
StarlightSubs has the musical out, as well as some other groups, but it's 720p in the StarlightSubs release. There is a 1080p release too, but with (probably) different subs.
And yes, it was AOTS without a doubt.

Does anyone have the webms for all the Revues?
Which Revue was your favorite? I really can't decide myself. It's between Jealousy, the first one, and the duet.

The duet was hype as fuck, and the Claudine/Maya moment was cool too. My favorite parts were the one where they clasp their hands, then as they stand over one another, and also that little dialogue where they go gay for each other. Revue of Jealousy was pretty fun, but I do wish they had done more with Banana. She really did have that character switch, and she came off as a total badass.

I'm a bit unsatisfied with the costumes. I know they have to be done differently because they have to be able to be put on and taken off quickly, as well as being durable, but I'm a clothes-obsessed faggot, so obviously I'm more critical. Is it just me, or is anyone else in agreement here?

I wasn't quite as thrilled as it seems most anons were.
The ending was definitely very strong, but I found the middle to be weak. It felt like there was something missing, like it never quite hit its stride until the end. It was a good show, but I spent much of the season thinking that it had the potential to have been even better.

It's making me wonder what the anime would have been like if it modeled itself more closely off of this interpretation. I like the comfy, friendly version we got, but the aggression and derangement the manga offers could have been fun to see animated too.

I'm glad we have two mainly different interpretations. I've got a different view when it comes to adaptations. I'd rather see variation on it, how it can be explored in a new medium instead of kvetching over missed or passed over details.
No.876667

That's actually true. You have to understand that Revue Starlight isn't just one show and properties. It's a media franchise, and as such has different universes and so on. Same thing with Milky Holmes, though it should be obvious by now that only dame dame Holmes is the one that anyone cares about. The idol side of it is nice too, though.
No.876704

I'm mostly speaking to those who might decry how an adaptation may skew the message of the original material or alter aspects of it so it does not match up. I think that makes it valuable in its own way rather than being a 1:1 clone of something that already exists, translated to another medium.
No.876724

Oh, definitely. Being able to tell more than one type of story or one set of themes makes good use of characters and setting. I'm surprised we don't see this more often in anime, whereas we do see it a lot in western shit.

I know a lot of people did that, myself included. It took most of the first episode for it to hook me, but the moment Karen ia flung from the elevator is when it really hit me that this might just be something special. That feeling was confirmed when she fell to the stage, ominous text and music and manufactured uniforms took over and a truly remarkable performance kicked me in the ass and it pitted in my stomach that i was really a fool at first. Then came the fun of combing through everything, picking up on the complicated relationships at play that are often only given a glance from a character in the background. It's a ride and i loved it.
