It's odd that they would add mild service while COMPLETELY removing it all from the bath scene, instead of just toning down the bath scene while keeping some suggestiveness.

Yeah I know what you mean. They can idealize the Japanese look and the Western look but having all these explicitly hafu characters that look 100% aryan is an interesting phenomenon. it's a conscious choice by the artist/writer that suggests certain things about how they see westerners.

Often I think they just want to make a character who is a cute blonde girl who is just ignorant enough of Japanese culture and customs to be moe, but still speaks perfect Japanese and has a personality which is comfortably familiar to the audience. Making them hafu is the simple solution. I don't think it has anything to do with how they see westerners.
