Honoka Haru was actually annoying a few minutes into the episode, but got somewhat better once there were others around. Or the degree of forcing the stupid game mechanics into the anime kept me thoroughly distracted in the second part.

That was incredibly awful in it's own special way. This is also the first time in my life that the words "forced moe" ever crossed my mind.

I should love this anime but the whole aspect of the app pisses me off.

A few things that came to my mind:

1. You have to use an external device and it's not part of the ship's cockpit

2. you have to use your OWN, PRIVATE smartphone. Whose idea was that?

3. There isn't even a simple charger for your very important smartphone onboard.

Let's not start about how a girl with literally no training could just go on a rocket to space to go fishing. A kind of fishing that is very dangerous.

For a show that is cute girls doing things anime, it overcomplicates its own premise. You've got the sexist men are superior in such and such plot which doesn't need to be there. It's a dated trope at this point in time and I don't think there is such discrimination in the fishing industry, not that I've heard for Japan, anyway.

Then the disappearance of fish around the world that they had to move the fish to other planets because we can't get enough fish. I'm sure they aren't going to even try to explain why the fish disappeared so they might as well not have mentioned it. Just say they're fishing on unknown and foreign planets. That's all you need.

Then you've got this support god app thing that just makes magical weapons to fight and capture the mutated fish. Doesn't need to be there. They can keep the mutated fish and handwave it as them being a new species of fish or evolution of fish they've released, forgoing how many years it would take for such an evolution. The show really only needed to be cute girls fishing mutated fish for some nebulous goals like, trying to catch the legendary fish or finding a clue to a lost parent's disappearance and having it all take place in space. Shipping the fish food can be off screen. That's all the show needed to be and it fucked it up, at least in this first episode. Looks like it might go into school shit and I hope it doesn't dwell too much on it. It could have been the unofficial Umihara Kawase anime if it didn't screw up at the start.

Worse yet, the ending will inevitably be similar to episode 1, too. But yeah, there's nothing, at least nothing within their means; they'd have to spin a fantastic story within the next few episodes and also have a lot of luck to get anyone to come back to it.
