I kind of get your reasoning in that a horse that can record the best time doesn't need to compete, but competitions are about the interaction. Being side by side, seeing your opponent, the crowds cheering, the fanfare, and so on. In real horse racing, these elements all matter. It's why the temperament of a horse can be such a big deal. Some horses set better times during races than they ever do practicing alone, while others do worse, as the stress of the event causes them to mess up.

As others have stated, that's as huge as the japanese male avarage and big enough to count as "tall for a girl" in Japan. I'm a little thrown off, since 5'6" doesn't seem very tall, while most of the others are around 5'2" and Urara is somehow 4'6" (can't even remember the last time she had any screentime). Tokai Teio is more distantly related; his grandsire was McQueen's great-grandsire. But Vodka is the only one without a blood relation on the team as far as I saw.

I liked how they ended on the 2016 PV's music. This episode had some pretty bad quality compared to the rest of the show though.

Since they ended with the 2016 PV music I'll post what I did back then. Uma musume was a fantastic idea and the studio did a good job making the anime something interesting. The only problem is that season 2 can never happen with this cast and if it does it will not fill the hoofs of this season. Hopefully this finds it way to Gensokyo where Special Week can run forever.
