From what little I've seen, cytube seems to be more of a service where everybody can partake in adding to the playlist (unless set otherwise in the options by the OP) while streamchan seems to be more of a thing where the Host plays the video and everybody else watches.

Also cytube works by using already uploaded videos from sites like youtube or streamable while streamchan works by streaming the file from the computer of the host. At least that's what I think, sorry if I'm incorrect here.

It worked more like normal seasonal anime. Everyone downloaded their own torrents independently and then agreed to watch each episode on particular days. We were watching maybe ~3 series concurrently, alternating between them on different days. For example:

>tuesday: Kino no Tabi ep 1

>wednesday: Dream Hunter Rem ep 1

>thursday: Miracle Girls ep 2

>friday: Kino no Tabi ep 2

...etc

After watching each episode we discussed them in the thread, just the same as with seasonal anime.

The way I see it, that approach has 3 main advantages:

1. Higher quality video which you can pause, screencap, enable/disable subs, etc.

2. It's open to all timezones.

3. It generates more discussion on the board, including people posting screencaps and making webms.

The point of bumping the thread is to advertise the board and the stream. I can let people know what we're watching and when; generating interest. There's no point in advertising the stream in the stream chat. It's a shame that streaming means less discussion.

The anime club's method would certainly give the thread more life. It feels like it would have less impact though. Plus the live banter with anons has a unique charm to it. I'll consider changing up the format.

Maybe we can do something similar: upload an episode a day with several different anime for daily enjoyment, but on the weekend we can stream a movie or a couple of OVAs. I can think of a few which fit the loli theme, although some of them are recent/popular enough that people might not be ready for a re-watch. The anime club focused on less well known shows for that reason.

I personally disliked how BDSM loli slowly turned into fat loli. Sure, it allowed her character to be set up for a bunch of gags that were very funny, but the change was rather fast. In one episode it is barely hinted at that she is a little more chubby than her sisters, in the next she is called a sow by lewd loli.

They could have made the change more gradual, and maybe give her an episode or two of internal struggle between her seeing herself as perfect and her realizing that she has flaws she needs to work on.

As far as the schedule goes I wouldn't have more than 3 or 4 concurrent shows and I wouldn't schedule more than one episode per day. In fact I'd probably go for 1 episode every 2 days to give people in different timezones a chance to comment, and to give people more opportunity to catch up if they fall behind.

I've just looked into it a bit and it seems that the infohashes are different so even if they used the same trackers they wouldn't be compatible. Pantsu uses a longer list of trackers, so it's probably a better option.

Holy shit, that character exposition is genious. The way they talk about their ways to eat foods in particular. It's not even necessarily the way their eat which is the exposition, it's the way they describe it. Kona says she it's it from the tail end of the caterpillar. A very visual desrciption with no real sense behind it, besides the fact that tis is how she does it. She obviously never thinks about efficiency or anything like that. She keeps her sentences short and their structure simple, just like her mind.

While Miyuki Uses long sentences, many descriptors and eats with a method.

When Kona says she considers the head to be the thick end, because it reminds her of a caterpilar Tsukasa is visibly distressed by the thought of eating a caterpillar. She either doesn't like to hurt animals, or is rather thin skinned, because she doesn't like the thought of eating something that looks remotely like an insect.

You instantly get information about the characters from just the first couple of seconds.

At the time of writing this I haven't watched past the chocolate cone scene. And I can already tell that this is going to be a great first episode.

And OH BOY was I right. Fantastic episode. Why have I never watched this before?

The art is superb. I love the way the roughly drawn backgrounds draw attention to the characters. Reminds me of some scenes in Nichijou. The characters themselves feature not too many details yet enough to make every them visually unique, besides from obvious points such as hair colour, hair style and eye colour.

Kano for example has a small beauty mark on her cheek, which is such an extremely minor detail that you barely notice it. But it's still there in almost every scene where it would reasonably fit the frame.

It will be hard to abstain from watching more on my own now. Wednessday just became a little better.

Well, there appears to be no overarking story yet. No goal for the characters to work towards, not even a general theme. I am not so used to sol. It could be something as minor as "oh no, we are slowly running low on cash, we need to deliver 10.000 newspapers before the end of the month" and at the end of every couple episodes they just say "well, that's another 1000 done", and you got yourself a fine storyline that adds some direction.

I know about different cultures and different methods to a morning quite well. I just never heard of any culture where soup with potatoes is considered normal as breakfast.

After doing a quick google it turns out that the "western" breakfast I was used to see from the shows I consumed tends to be the norm among younger japs, which gives a worrying insight into my taste.

And there's a difference between expecting "progress" or just "enjoying the ride". To get back to the anon's example, it's the difference between meeting with friends and just having fun doing nothing, versus meeting with club members / colleagues / other hobbyists to work on a common project. Slice of Life are usually of the former variety. Yuyushiki is a good example of that. Basically "nothing" happens, the three main characters spend most of their time sitting at the computers, looking up random shit on gugeru, talking nonsense or just saying weird-sounding words and then laughing about it. And that's also the charm of it. Unlike so many things in life, SoL doesn't usually try to be meaningful like so many other things are expected to be. It just is. You can join in and enjoy the fun and that'll be it.

I think Lucky Star had a change of director after the first few episodes, so that might be why it feels slightly different.

It's not so much a spoiler as it is a confirmation that she keeps acting like some 3DPD slut, like she already has been doing. In addition, the ring scene is, if memory serves me, in the same episode as the one where Eiko is tied up like that. I assumed that it was from the streamed episode because I certainly don't remember the exact episode. So, seeing as the screncap was posted, it was a fairly safe assumption that you had already seen that particular scene if you were following the stream.

Also, it's a fucking SoL that goes absolutely nowhere. There isn't much to spoil. Eiko's sluttery never gets addressed as an actual flaw, aside from one throwaway line from Kamuri about she's OK with it as long as Eiko always comes back in the end. If anything, finding out about this would be an improvement because you won't be anticipation a resolution to the whole thing only to never get one.

Funny that you should talk to me about spoilers, considering I was talking to another anon about the importance of them just hours ago. But that was about something that had something to spoil and not an SoL with even less resolution than the average SoL.

I feel like this episode was lacking a certain something. While the art was gorgeous especially that one shot of the house at evening holy shit I want that in 1080 so I can use it as my desktop as always, but now that the characters are all introduced properly it's just making jokes based off that. Konata is the lazy slob who never prepares and does good anyways, so she runs her race and wins.

Kagami does her very best, reaches success, but at an immense cost. She gets made fun of all along the way by Konata.

Tsukasa is an unlucky idiot, who loves to try never the less, and Miyuki is fabulous and graceful at anything she tries. Even her shortcomings are cute.

Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable, but there isn't even a hint of variation anywhere. I feel like this show will live off the characters it slowly introduces and then pushes back to a secondary role once more as well as observational humor about mundane topics, which is fine. But this episode was more or less a bridge between the episodes where Nanako and Yui are the focus, and papa Konata becomes the focus. At least it feels that way.

Oh well, there is always an episode on Wednesday to look forward to.
