I haven't watched this yet because the only available subs seem to be by either commie or funi. I'd rather kill myself than read commie subs and funi ruins enjoyment by itself.

You might as well watch it with Funi subs. In all likelihood they couldn't have fucked with the sub script since they worked closely with the Japs to get a simultaneous broadcast in the states, so they were most likely under close translation scrutiny by the Japs. It's not like you would be giving them money anyway.

There is nothing wrong with liking something like Cowboy Bebop or Space Dandy. /a/ isn’t /v/ where the ultimatum is “conform to our tastes or gtfo.” One of the best things about /a/ is that the mindset is, “You should try to widen your frame of reference, but there is still redeeming qualities.” >>787599 is a good example of that.

I gave it a chance while it was airing but I couldn't get into it all that much. Something about episodic shows makes me less interested in following them.

I do remember the voice acting in the english dub being of decent quality, can't comment on the script though.

The first Ghost in the Shell movie had a simultaneous Japanese, American, and UK theatrical release in 1995, as Manga Video were part of the production committee for it. Too bad that dub is really wooden and filled with Manga's trademark swearing.

Space Dandy was good fun, I enjoyed trying to make sense of it when it was purposefully nonsensical (all the shit about different universes and versions of dandy, his repeated deaths). I'm glad they actually addressed it in the last episode, that tipped it over the edge into greatness. Also the dub was top tier and I have never YAMERO'd harder than the episode Dandy and Scarlet were supposed to go on a date and literally walked opposite directions away from each other without realizing it.

I watched a few episodes of the sub and the dub, and I think this is a rare case where the dub is superior in most ways. Part of it is probably the deadpan delivery of the narrator. I don't think it works in text if can't understand the japanese. The high-school musical episode was the only unbearable part about the english dub, and everything else was pretty solid.

I really admire that it tried to do something different and it improved it's formula a lot during the second season. A lot of the humor wasn't all that good, however. Music was on point though.

I think it's the only dub I've heard that is better than the sub. Dandy's english VA actually nailed the character and didn't sound like most english VAs who monotone like they hate their job.

I like Dandy when he takes things serious.
