Yuru Camp△ Anonymous 01/25/18 (Thu) 19:31:12 No. 785645
Yuru Camp is a perfect show boasting a finely-tuned cute to comfy ratio. The amount of comfiness is off the charts and it's only going to get better next episode. We might actually overdose on it once the girls hit the onsen.
I bet all those cafes are real places too. How long until /a/nons start going on pilgrimages to re-trace the steps of their future waifus, Tayosato-style?

Japan really is that safe. I can't actually think of any other place that I would go solo camping without a gun. Then again if it's campsite it'd be pretty safe though. I would be more worried coming up behind a giant van that has no way of seeing me in a scooter.
I hope Rin gets over being a loner after this camp is over so we can finally see full group interactions, although RIn's parts are kind of cute and comfy, they kind of got outshone by the three other's fun interactions.

Binged through the first four episodes, wished it didn't end, wanted to knead Rin's bun. I'm loving the JNTO's advertisement for Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. I haven't read the mango yet, but I hope there's bits where they go hiking over in the Hakone Caldera or take a day trip to Izu. There's lovely places there.
The sweeping landscape shots are absolute bait for making big panoramas. Might just make them after every new episode if there's suitable shots.
For some reason the interplay between the girls is giving me a real heavy Aiura vibe.

I gotta wonder if the rise of all these comfy/mealtime shows is a result of modern society's tendency trade quality socialization with quantity, with a growing number of people wanting back the some of the aspects of the old times where traditional family meals and meaningful relationships with the people you care about was the norm.

Okay, since you've obviously never been to the sea/ocean before in your life I will go ahead and dispel the crazy notion you seem to have about tides:
They are not something that "just happen" unexpectedly. You have to be literally retarded to "be swept away by a tide."They don't even reach most public beaches as they are above the intertidal zone; It's only a matter of water receding far into the ocean during low tide and then coming back to normal again. Of course their effect depends on the shape of the coastline and the seafloor in the area, so they'll always vary. All you have to do is look around and notice the very obvious signs of an intertidal zone, and not set up shop in it.
Are there mussels and algae growing on all the rocks around you even though it's dry? Oh shit nigger, better get out of there.
Simple!

River/lakside and forest are inherently the best places to camp. Comfy, shaded, lots of fuel and places to tie up a hammock, protected from wind, and then the trees make it get dark earlier so there's more time for telling spooky stories around the campfire

What would be amazing would be, as the girls become more adept with skills, the story gradually progresses from cute girls doing cute casual camping to cute girls doing cute hardcore wilderness survival and then to full on homesteading after they graduate. Its a perfect way to inspire the neet audience to the call of the wild, while giving them the skills to survive there.

Obviously drinking straight untreated water is a good way to shit yourself for the next 48 hours, but washing, swimming, etc will only kill the weak.

Have you bubble-wrapped every wall in your house? Wear kevlar pants when it's time to split wood? Probably get your life jacket on to go swimming in a pond, right? Worrying about miniscule risks that are trivial is just a waste of time. You're probably just as likely to accidentally dump boiling water on your genitals while purifying water for cleaning as you are to get a disease from washing your dishes.

This is a simple choice between dirty water and clean water, and apparently people are dumb enough to pick dirty. It's not like we're dealing with deep wilderness. They're campgrounds; these places provide access to water for this very purpose.

If you don't give a shit about anything, you're much less likely to get diseases. Eat food off the floor. Put your dirty fingers in your mouth. Prepare food after masturbating without washing your hands. Drink out of a stream. Eat snow. Prepare food in a questionable pot. Eat pizza after it's sat on the counter for a day. I have done all these things, your immune system is only made stronger by having something to fight and learning how to defeat it. I've worked retail through countless flu seasons and rarely caught anything. I'm more likely to call out because I just don't feel like working today, than have a legitimate sick day. The common cold is so deadly to nips because of their overly clean culture and weakened immunities. I don't even remember the last time I had a cold besides a little sniffling that went away in a day.

>If you don't give a shit about anything, you're much less likely to get diseases.
That's not entirely true.
You pay with short-term health hazards for long-term protection. This means you can train your immune system while you are strong and healthy, and when you are vulnerable (because you are sick), you emphasize your short-term protection so you don't get finished off.
>The common cold is so deadly to nips
No, that's a meme. The common cold is no deadlier to Nips than it is to Americans. However there are two things which make the statistics look otherwise. First, the Japanese are older on average than Americans, and older people are more likely to die of cold than young people. Second, when somebody dies of natural causes, the Japanese will often just jot down "cold" and skip the autopsy, just like their police is often too lazy to solve murders and likes to write them off as suicides (or, if they can't do that, they just grab the first person they can find and force a confession out of them).

>Izu peninsula is my fucking dream trip
I had the opportunity to explore the shit out of it for two full days. I spent most of it being beaten into a pulp by the Atami summer heat and not really going anywhere. Probably the biggest regret I have of my last trip to Japan was not just getting lost in Izu. I'm sorry for not even giving you the chance of vicariously living the experience through some text on the internet. Atami was pretty comfy though, I had a fantastic tallboy of Asahi on a seafront bench at 3 in the afternoon, watching the waves hit the breakwaters, nodding to passersby gawking at the foreigner, and watching the ferry to Hatsushima go back and forth. The next day I walked from west Atami to Izusan to the top of Izusan Shrine, then spent the rest of the day getting completely shitfaced and eating delicious ramen at a place called 雨風ラーメン, burning through my leftover yen and making friends with the unibrowed attendant who knew as much English as I knew Japanese. Tremendous.

This is the cause of the miscommunication:
>>When Akira asks her what she's doing, she begins to say "Haru is gone" but doesn't finish. To me, this indicates that a) she has a hitherto unseen degree of affection for Haru and b) she has reservations about her attachment to him.
>Yes, but which is it? Maybe it’s intended to mean one or the other, or both. Or maybe it’s a reference to a development in the VN which was depicted and thought out more thoroughly.
I made this statement about the scene as a segue into then arguing my more general opinions about Sora’s character development in the anime overall. It was just a bad, not to mention incorrect, example to use. So now I will make the same argument again, without that misleading and incorrect ramp:
So, referring back to that scene you mentioned with Sora and Akira, we know that Sora has some indecisiveness or internal conflict about her relationship with Haru. However, the nature of these feelings, why they’re there to begin with, and then their subsequent development throughout the plot, are poorly developed, and left unspecified, respectively. This is what I’m trying to get across when I say that that the scene conveys vague information, and this is what I mean when I say being is a lack of “clear and coherent development.” To be more specific, and continuing to use that single scene as an example: We know or suspect Sora has feelings for Haru. Well, why does she? This would be the depth, the “why.” The anime does provide some reasons. We know about the dead parents. And there’s the childhood kissing flashback scene. In regard to the parents: this isn’t something we see and feel for ourselves in this story. That emotional content is not given to you, to the viewer, on your biological RAM (to use the analogy I mentioned previously). There’s really not alot there. So, as a viewer, we’re in a position where we have to go, ourselves, into our minds, and fill in alot of blanks, alot of emotional content, alot of meaning. And then, in regards to the childhood kissing scene: This was a good scene but I just feel like it’s not enough. There needs to be more detail, more characterization, for it to really feel meaningful. So, it’s just one, quick flashback and a piece of infodump in ep 1 (and the credits slideshow). And that’s essentially everything we’re building Sora’s character from. It’s not very engaging. I’m not arguing that there needs to be more explicit verbage. There just needs to be more character content. I just want more. I want to be more engaged with this character. (Digressing: at this point in the story, they’re still primarily just archetypes. There’s not that sense of what I would “depth” to the characters, that illusion that “this is a real person.” I think there is a lacking distinction that needs to be made between “personality” or “archetype,” and depth.)
And then, moving past the prior character development, we can also look at the subsequent character development, which is, even, much weaker than the prior. If we look at Sora’s character development in regards to this indecisiveness or internal conflict from that point forward: she changes very drastically as a character, for apparently no reason. That scene depicts her as indecisive, and then a few route-episodes later, she and Haru are engaging in seminal coitus in front of shocked acquaintances, and this doesn’t bother Sora at all. Why? We don’t know. It’s not specified. It’s just there for no reason. Because it’s convenient for drama or fanservice or whatever. So this is a lack of meaning; this is a lack of coherency. This is just a flaw or a failure in the writing.

So when I say “vague and meaningless,” these are the specific things that I’m referring to in the anime. I hope that clears things up.
