Humans have INSANE endurance. One of the most primal, primitive, and natural hunting methods known is to simply chase your prey until it falls over from exhaustion. Four legged animals are faster in short sprints, but compared to a bipedal human they just can't keep it up. A trained human can even chase a horse to exhaustion.

Yeah, this hunting method popped out of nowhere as part of innumerable internet tidbits. I have several problems with it.
>Tracking ain't easy
>Only applies to very hot climates, cold climate animals are built for endurance too, and have the added bonus of fur. It no longer counts as a natural advantage if you need to throw clothes into the mix
>Chasing a prey for 26 kilometers implies you have to carry it back, or be a nomad
>This is made even worse by the fact big preys pose a big conservation problem
>Weapons and normal hunting methods are just a damn sight more efficient
In short, I call bullshit "fact" created by some random dumbfuck on facebook. At the very best it was an outlier method used by some african tribes.

Crocodiles have a strong immune system, especially against bacterial infections, but that they are immune to cancer seems to be South Asian superstition and not based on facts.
Crocodiles are rarley used in cancer research, the reasearch focus is on the naked mole rat (immune to cancer) and the large mammals, which are more resistant to cancer.

Persistance hunting is a hunting technique of the early humans in Afrika, and was also used after the humans moved to Eurasia.
The heavy usage of persistance hunting explains many adaptions that humans have for long distance running.
It's true that persistance hunting became less common after the creation of better tools. Still it explains many important human characteristics.
But that humans have the most stamina & endurance of all animals, is likely a meme.
The only heavy use of persistance hunting was in Afrika, where humans already have big advantages, because of their superior thermoregulation.

Yes, and just like with the Neanderthals, convergent evolution made the Sapiens lose many of its African hunting patterns and develop an Eurasian-oriented strength based hunting (specially considering that the Northern Megafauna was bigger and sturdier than the African, making us that way as well. We hunted mammoths by force, not by running).
Agriculture revived some endurance traits, because it's an everlasting labour that doesn't require so much strength, but stamina.
So yes, you're correct and some guys here are wrong.
If they want to talk of humans as being a single thing, they couldn't be more wrong, and if they want to talk about endurance hunting, specify the Kenyans or similar.

Learn your genetics.
Africans have 2% of Homo erectus DNA and 13% of Homo rhodensiensis DNA, which they acquired after the African/non-African split 100.000 years ago.
Eurasians as a whole have 1~3% Neanderthal ancestry and East Asians have a further 1~6% Denisovan ancestry.

>which they acquired after the African/non-African split 100.000 years ago.
Which makes no sense whatsoever. Considering everything, it's far more likely that humans evolved chiefly in Asia, and Africans are the result of successive waves of Eurasian populations migrating there and interbreeding with the remnants of the previous waves. And in the case of the very first waves of barely human apes, they even interbred with the local ape population, hence all those genes that aren't found outside of certain African populations.

We know by yDNA and mtDNA that this is not the case.
It makes sense because the Homo sapiens lived in the borders of Africa, and when the split happened, those who remained entered into the deep continent, where they found ancient and archaic hominids still living and mated.
This is all very well explained, as in 2015 there was finally a German inventor guy who made a machine who could sequence very ancient DNA.
They even found the first Aryans (the Yamnaya and Corded Ware cultures).
That's the story, Anon. You have to understand that Africans today are not the same as the ancestral Sapiens, they became like that after mixing with archaic hominids.

No, borders of Africa is not Eurasia. Their original range was from North Africa to the Horn of Africa to South Africa, in the borders, close to the Seas.
Their first expansion, due to the split, was either from the Horn or from North Africa to the Middle East.
We also know that by the time of the split, to he left and those who remained were already two branches of the Homo sapiens, who got even more separated with the outsider admixture both acquired later and due to more normal divergent evolution.

Post link to some studies then. I still don't see how finding the same yDNA and mtDNA in two populations must mean that one is the descendant of the other one, and not the other way around. It's also possible that both of them are descendants of a third population. Or if the excuse is that the African populations have a greater variety, then the admixture of previous populations is just as good or even better explanation that assuming that the genetically less diverse population lost all those genes.

You're fundamentally wrong here. It's not descent from one to the other, but that both have a common ancestors.
We didn't descent from current living Niggers, but We and Niggers descended from the same ancestral population.
And we don't have the same yDNA and mtDNA either, but we can see that there was a common origin 100.000 years ago.
That's how they come up with the dates.

Also, there are no studies about that. Throughout the years, by sequencing the yDNA, mtDNA and aDNA of modern peoples, they found that to be the explanation naturally, as it couldn't possibly be the other way around in a genetic perspective.
The "A" yDNA pertain to Africans.

>Persistance hunting is a hunting technique of the early humans in Afrika
There's absolutely 0 evidence for that. It's just a whole bunch of speculation and conjecture.
The only humans that I know of that use persistence hunting (wolves, dogs, hyenas and even lions practice real persistence hunting) are the San of the Khoi San.
And guess what, they use tools in their persistence hunting, they use throwing sticks to separate an animal from the herd (they don't hunt all animals like this, only skittish animals with large heavy horns like male antelopes), then they use those same sticks in combination with their tracking skills to run the animal around to tire it out and to prevent it from going back to the herd and to make it stressed out.
Only after the animal is stressed and getting tired one of the hunters runs after it until it collapses.
But there's another thing, the San hunter/runner has to carry water himself because if he doesn't he will collapse and die from dehydration himself. (They used to use hollowed out gourds but today they just use plastic bottles).
TLDR. Sweat = water loss = dehydration = just as bad if not worse than overheating. Even when hunting without tools humans need to use tools to carry water.

I think the best human-human would probably be something like Megas - just a normal dude inside a robot with an unlabelled button for literally every situation, and if there isn't, he would somehow make it despite having no idea what he's doing. Reflects our heavy tool use, tool creation, and general bumbling through life and technology mostly by luck, accidents, and a desire for cool things to happen.

I'd say the problem with that is this: you couldn't make him too wacky without his passions overtaking the show. And if you don't overdo it, then his wackiness isn't that important E.g. you could make him a military otaku living in Japan, but then he would be a simple salaryman who spends his money on airshit and military surplus, and likes to go camping. Not that wacky. Or you could overdo it, and make him a crazy man who has friends in Alaska and travels there all the time to shoot guns and spend time in the wilderness. But if you did that, then the girls of his harem would either hinder his wackiness, or they'd be mere accessories of it.
>>781078
Indeed, even in Tiger Mask the MC was kind of boring compared to all the other wrestlers.
>>781080
That would boil down into him killing the girls one after the other.

Yes, that's what I mean the girls being mere accessories to his wackiness. To use that same example, imagine our Japanese /k/ommando meeting these girls:
>kuudere girl from a military family, literally the daughter of a general, loves military history
>tomboyish girl who plays airsoft
>tsundere who works in a military surplus shop
>gaijin girl from the USA, a blonde redneck with a big rack
>shy girl who secretly fucking loves to slaughter animals with a gun hunt
So, it wouldn't that hard for the average animu writer to make this show work, but then every episode would be about the passion MC shares with the girls. Therefore he wouldn't come across as wacky to the girls, and that would make him seem less wacky to the audience too.

Yuusha ga Shinda does it well I think. The protagonist is crazy about naked kneesocks, most of his free time is spent trying to trick the girls into wearing kneesocks. He's so obsessed with kneesocks that when he was fighting one of the villains and she tried to trick him with her breasts, he ignored it and focused only on her legs -- using ungodly speed to dodge her attacks so he could put kneesocks on her legs.
The girls do hinder his wackiness, and they are also accessories to it. It's not a bad dynamic.

Heyman, keep them in line from doing retarded shit on public, give them advice, maybe scream at them during battle with a megaphone like Jimmy Hart, make sure the other zaibatsu don't screw them over during the matches or with the payment, etc.
Play the "common sense" for Badger's girl clear lack of such things, but not in a faggot way but more like "OK, I'm done with your shit, you're going to listen to me right the fuck now !, if you want to come out of this fight alive and not end up being ryona-bait for that kaiju-looking brotherfucker over there, you are going to pay attention to my plan and follow through, got it you little scrub !?"

I just watched the first two episodes, it has potential to be a fun echi show with a seriously overpowered main character fur stronger than steel . I am curious to see the other animals, what powers tehy have, and what bullshit ass-pull the author will use in order for the honey badger to win. As others have said it would have been better if the male character was a bit smarter and daring taking the role of coach/manager for the honey badger, maybe even going into the other extreme and having him being some sort of Light or Lelouch. For instance in the scene where the guardian appears and explains the situation the male lead could have asked for money, if the guardian refused, he would say that he will stab his throat with the knife from the table, they all call his bluff, so he picks up the knife and is about to stab himself, but the honey badger stops him in at the last moment, he then says
>as expected of someone with your speed, I suspected that I am more valuable alive than dead, as such I had no fear of stabbing myself, because I knew you would stop me at the last moment, now give me some compensation ojisan
One last thing is that her voice reminded me too much of Aqua from Konosuba, and looking into it it's the same voice actress, and the more I think about it, the more they are the same character
>goes from super serious mode, to kawaii/baka mode in an instant
>is full of herself and thinks of herself as being the best

Reading as much of the translated manga, as we have (not much), it's at least portrayed in a surprisingly different way than someone like the MC from Dagashi Kashi.
He's spineless and beta as fuck, to the point where he infuriates another character, purely because he's such a cuck that he's just flat out letting HItomi pick the moves, in the "board game" they're playing.
Also he hangs with Otakus, and isn't even trying in class, as seen in episode 2.
That being said, yeah I'd prefer something like, pardon how fanfiction tier this'll sound, but:
>the guys in the beginning are trying to rape Hitomi
>he's angrily shouting at them, as he's driving, how he's going to fucking kill them as soon as he can pull over
>Hitomi goes "I already did."
But as much of a trash series as this is, I think his weakness is the entire point. Obviously there'll be plot related shit, but if nothing else I guess they thought having two people who don't give a fuck, bouncing off eachother, would get boring fast, or something?
Dunno, I'm just here for Hitomi's abs, ass, and tits. So any writing that doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out, is good enough for me.

>that spoiler
I unironically could look past every single flaw of that show (boy there's ton of them) because of how strong that theme of a single mom just fighting to protect her daughter was. Hell, that show was about being a mother in general. I genuinely teared up when that clone tried to be a good mother to that girl in a very mechanical, clean and autistic way like a high IQ clone that was rapidly matured would act. The moment when she breaks down and begins crying and the kid hugs her, man, that shit opened the floodgates to me.
Hell, everything in that show mainly happened because of most characters there just having really shit mothers. I picked the show up for the premise of a chick becoming this sexy unstoppable murderbitch wrecking mechs. I never thought I'd marathon it in a day because of a massive feels train coming my way.

Well, as much as one can judge a show in two episodes, in all honesty this seems like the sort of show you watch two or three episodes of, then watch the rest 'in the background' while doing some other shit, while mentally earmarking certain scenes for 'later use'.
Yet all the same, I found myself actually actively watching it with some degree of mental involvement, which is much more than I can say about these WWE-tier 'deathmatch' shows. That is to say, I didn't fucking hate it. So my gut feeling tells me this has some potential if it doesn't get repetitive.
My dick feeling is, however, entirely for this show. I'd do unspeakable things to Honey Badger. I'd love to give her a tongue bath after each match .

It certainly did convince me that honey badgers are awsome creatures. Wikipedia certainly does seem to bear out their seemingly outlandish claims about hou sugoi ratels are. To quote:
>mostly solitary
>intelligent animals and are one of a few species known to be capable of using tools
>notorious for their strength, ferocity and toughness.
>They have been known to savagely and fearlessly attack almost any kind of animal when escape is impossible, reportedly even repelling much larger predators such as lions
>porcupine quills , and animal bites rarely penetrate their skin
>virtually tireless in combat and can wear out much larger animals in physical confrontations
>skin is hard to penetrate, and its looseness allows them to twist and turn on their attackers when held
>their skin is almost impervious to arrows and spears
>skin is also tough enough to resist several machete blows

Hello there,
I'm the guy who shared insights about human origin and evolution here, originally because I needed to correct a sperg.
In my arguments, I said that the Out of Africa happened, and it did, it's a fact - but by the time I wrote, the oldest Homo sapiens fossils were one in Morocco, dated ~300 kya, and one in the Horn of Africa, dated ~200 kya.
The oldest Out of Africa Homo sapiens fossils were in Skhul and Qafzeh (Israel), of possible Homo sapiens + Homo neanderthalensis hybrids, dated ~120 kya.
This said various things:
1. There was an Out of Africa event, probably dated to that age of ~120 kya;
2. Africans and Non-Africans today share a common ancestry and this can be verified by yDNA, mtDNA and aDNA - this doesn't mean one came from the other, but that both came from a common ancient one;
3. We can verify today that, by the time of the separation, the Homo sapiens who stayed in Africa were already different from the ones who left, genetically speaking;
4. We now know that, after the separation, the ones who stayed in Africa acquired directly or indirectly ~13% of its aDNA from a population related to the Homo rhodesiensis and ~2% from the Homo erectus . Similarly, the ones who left Africa first acquired Neanderthal admixture, who, with the passing of ages reduced dramatically, probably by selection - this number started at around ~11% Neanderthal ancestry in the Ust'-Ishim man ( ~45 kya), reduced to about ~6% in the Oase 1 man (~35% kya) and now is around ~1,5-2,5% in Modern non-Africans. We also know that, as they moved East, today East Asians and Australoids also acquired Denisovan admixture, ranging from about ~1-6%, peaking in Papuans and Australian Aborigines.
So, why am I repeating myself?
Because a recent paper published a Homo sapiens in what today is Israel which dates about ~180 kya.
>http://science.sciencemag.org/content/359/6374/389
With the press releases:
>https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/25/science/jawbone-fossil-israel.html
This doesn't change anything about the theory or anything else said really, but it adds more implications:
1. If this sample is a genetic dead-end or not, which means, he isn't actually ancestral to anyone. This needs to be verified.
2. If the African/non-African separation already occurred by that time (genetically speaking)
So, in the end, this is just an update, I'm actually happy and wanted to share it here in this thread.
Polite sage for off-topic.

It still doesn't make a lick of difference, because out of Africa still says that the common ancestor lived in Africa but somehow miraculously avoided mixing with other hominids until for some reason they started fugging them. Which is a lot less logical than the out of Asia theory, which says the common ancestor evolved in the Eurasian landmass, and modern Africans are the result of a series of migrations into that continent. You see, you failed to show why the former is more plausible than the later. You are just keep repeating that there was a common ancestor. Really, start a thread on /pol/ if you want to make your case.

It's not, actually. You say that like you knew anything.
>The very fact Neanderthals share ancestry with the primitive Africans at the time they left basically means that our origins isn't fucking Africa.
600.000 years ago was when the Homo heildelbergensis evolved into the Neanderthal in Europe and the Sapiens in Africa.
This is well known, they had a common ancestor and were very much alike.
>In fact our most ancient ancestor is in the fucking mediterranean by about 7.2 million yeas.
Here you show your utmost imbecility, to the point of being compared to a literal retard.
7.2 million years ago, there weren't even Humans and this was just one of the many Great Ape species that existed, being the oldest one.
After him, we have the Australopithecus , in Africa, a step beyond in its evolution - the human evolution would continue in Africa then, with both the Homo erectus venturing outside of it to Eurasia and then becoming extinct and the Homo heildebergensis , which came after him doing the same, but this time leaving the Neanderthal and Sapiens as offspring, and probably the Denisovan also. Also, the Hobbit of Southeast Asia may have been a descendent of the Homo erectus , but we still don't know that - the Denisovan may have had contacted and admixed with them also, but we don't know about that either.
Now fuck off, down syndrome.
Let's talk about Honey Badgers.

Ok so I watched the whole thing.
Technically it went in the lion pen on purpose, fought with the male by trying to rip his balls out (signature move... the thing always go for the balls), got caught in his mouth, half-ripped the lion face off and got away without a scratch. The next time it did that, the lions were ready for it and the whole pride immediately mauled it and left it for dead.
Also the reason he was trying to get in the bedroom is to kill the old man, it tries every chances it get.
On camera they have 2 males routing 4 hyenas, the third honey badger (female) DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK and figures 2 guys are more than enough to take on 2 hyena each (each hyena being 4-5 time bigger than the badgers).
It's also dreadfully smart, one learn how to climb into a hive pedestal (for beekeepers trying to find a way other than poison to keep them off) by watching another one FAILING and figures out how to climb on it in one go on first attempt.
Also that's the documentary from hell.
1st day set up to film the outdoor kitchen raid.
Honey badger would rather raid the lounge (new loot), somehow start and destroy a spare camera, chew the cables and fuck some equipment.
2nd day set up to film the garbage dump.
Honey badger is much more interested by fucking up the new things (topple and eat the lights, chew through a IR GoPro despite those things being built like tanks, they call it a day find badger size holes in the hiding tent where they were shooting from, luckily they didn't let any gear there).
3rd day, tourist show up, people are drinking and talking loudly around a fire, crew figure it's a bust...
Honey badger don't care, sneak into the dinning room raid the leftovers directly from the plates half a meter from the tourists.
Honey badger are not well documented and after seeing that it's no mystery. It's a pain to observe in the wild (since it's curious it will try to destroy anything new to see what is inside) and it's a pain to keep lock up (and it has the exact same terrible ability than his cousin the skunk).
