Well first of all, as any responsible pet owner you should make sure she is sterile and get her chipped. If she ever runs away she won't get impregnated by a random mutt and add to the population of wild dogs.
After that, ensure she is parasite free and ensure she is healthy otherwise.
I would also strongly suggest doggy school, you never know what kind of bad habits she picked up with her old owner.
Also: ensure she gets along well with the other dogs in your town. Take her to the park and let her play with the other dogs, see if how she behaves and if you need to correct some of her behavior.
