He wasn't a jobber in battle city, he actually won the matches he played, and he would have won that one too if it wasn't for Egyptian magic bullshit.

That one is my favorite duel in the series, even Kaiba was getting a kick out of it.

No, but Yugi did. Put his deck up for tour and left Domino City to go on journeys. That reminds me. We never did see much of the OG cast in GX. Just Yugi, Kaiba, and Pegasus. And Yugi himself was only in 2 episodes. Without seeing his face.

Joey's deck was neat in Battle City, it was a decent mix of luck and synergy which means it is exciting to watch him use it.

Battle City was where he got good at duelling, and the manga went into its climax almost immediately after that.

No virtual world, no capsule monsters, no bullshit.

Just about every duel he has in the series (and just about every loss) was anime-only filler.

Even counting that he had a pretty decent win/loss ratio after Battle City.
