So, does Soma have a girlfriend already? because from the beginning it seems that his success will be arbitrarily held back until he does, which means Soma is destined to lose all major challenges until he has a love interest, at least according to his father.

Not really, they show his father in flashbacks and he already was a monster before he had a girlfriend.

That's the worst part of the whole "you need to have a love interest to be best chef" thing, the whole foreshadowing literally cut to Nakiri, still he has more chemistry with other girls, specially Anxiety-chan, although my favorite will always be Nikumi.

Something I like about Soma is how he really likes to serve his clients instead of just thinking about the cooking and looking down upon others like most people he challenges like Chinese Spicy Food-kun who even has to ask his clients to get out within 20 mins at peak hours.

Precisely, the other one is Kurokiba Ryou in my opinion, Megloomy kind of follows that as well or at least it seems she learned a lot about it, would rather have her being the forced love interest to Soma rather than Erina, although my personal favorite is Nikumi.

Pretty much. At least Erina is actually relevant to the plot now, but for ages she was just there in the background and the author still gave her development and she somehow managed to come like 2nd or 3rd in the polls because "MC". I think every other girl is either a jobber or an antagonist.

No end in fucking sight either. At least we're maybe coming towards the last bit of the arc, but then again there are still a lot of reserves that can lose for the hero team, I wouldn't be surprised if the fucker drags it out another 2 rounds.
No.766632
>>766569
Apparently fans of the manga are getting tired of the formula, the author should consider making the arc after this one the final one or something, not sure if a time skip would be good but pulling more "elite 10" out of the ass just to pad things was stupid.
I have to say none of the other original Elite 10 have gotten me hyped at all, maybe the red haired cat girl and probably Erina since she was kind of fleshed out, the "loli" girl and the naked guy are OK but the rest, including the #1 chef could die in a fire for all I care, in fact, I find all these guys all the same, "elite" chefs who think everyone else is beneath them despite there being tons of specialties AND different people with different taste in food, I mean, in Azami's perfect world there seems to be no place for small food joints or even typical fast food, can you imagine him trying to shut down KFC in Japan?
No.770835
This is a decent adaption. Yes indeed. But it's just so straightforward and bland. There is no episode where I went "Whoa" or saw some directorial creativeness. You know what I mean?

The problem is that the manga is tied to Soma's attendance at Tootsuki. When the contests have the failure condition of expulsion, it loses all tension because it's a given that he's going to win or otherwise come out ahead.
This kills the whole Central arc, because that's pretty much the underlying threat. They tried to spice it up with Soma's dad joining Central if they lose, but it's not enough. The tournament arcs that worked were ones where failure didn't mean expulsion. They actually build up suspense and excitement, because Soma actually had the possibility of failure and a chance to grow as a character. He learns from his failures, so constantly putting him in contests where he won't be allowed to lose is a bad idea.
Central arc would have been better if the failure conditions weren't so over-the-top, but at least they managed to write in opportunities for the characters to develop.
No.774273

This.
It also doesn't help that the reactions for the food have gotten boring. At first the "food-garsm" thing was fun but now it is totally useless. At least during the autumn election we had the director that depending of "how many pieces of clothings he removes" would dictate the quality of a dish it was a really good way to combine fanservice with a way to know how good a dish actually was.
Right now every dish is just "simply amazing" and they give you some ass long explanations about shit that unless you are a chef yourself you probably don't care so there's really not good way to know how the "chef powerlevels" are distributed right now.
If you compare it with Akagi for example and stuff like that, even if you didn't know the rules of the game or whatever they are doing you get some other good ways to exemplify it and get a good idea of how fucked up something is. Here all dishes are really fucking good, everyone loses their shit with them, but for some umami bullshit here and there it is sightly superior and they have to win.
