There's this huge debate in LGBT about whether pedophilia is natural or a mental condition. It all really hinges on the question of whether or not children can consent and while the general belief is that they cannot, many have claimed to have consented to sex as a child, most famously filmmaker Joel Schumacher, who claims to have engaged in acts of intercourse from the age of 12 (interview where he talks about it: https://www.vulture.com/2019/08/joel-schumacher-in-conversation.html )
However there is no way to know for certain. In all known cases, it's impossible to determine whether the child truly consented or if the adult simply exerted their influence on the child.
But what if it was possible to remove the factor of adult influence entirely?
What if we took all power away from the adult? What if we bound an adult's limbs to the four corners of a bed and prevented them from speaking? What if we made it impossible for the adult to influence the child?
And then, what if we took a child, who had no history of abuse, left them alone with the adult and told them they could do whatever they wanted to the adult as long as they didn't hurt them and observed the results?
What would happen then? How many children would be sexually curious and expose the adult's genitals? What if none of them did?
This scientific experiment would end the argument. It would prove once and for all the truth behind claims that children are inherently sexual beings. If the children show no interest in sex, it would prove that they are not and that pedophilia is inherently wrong. Conversely, it could prove that children are sexual after all, and are capable of pursuing, consenting to and even initiating sexual contact.
This is an idea I randomly had, it probably needs work but I believe that it is important to test this, especially since pedophilia is such a hated thing in today's world, and hate can blind us to seeing the truth.
