The same threat that created Gensokyo in the first place: Ab absence of belief from humans.

>Yukari's boredom
Kill yourself fanonfucker. Yukari can't do shit to harm Gensokyo because they other sages and Hecatia (who now lives in Gensokyo) would BTFO her. It's not like Yukari would even want to do something like that anyway. Kill yourself.

>and Hecatia (who now lives in Gensokyo)
Lolwut? Was there something in the mangas I did not catch up with? Because all I now is that Hecatia sent Clownpiece to live in (read: scout out) Gensokyo, but Hecatia herself should still reside (New) Hell.
Or at least her "core" form should do so.
That being said, Yukari more or less made Gensokyo even prior to propping up the Hakurei barrier, so even if she's bored, she would do nothing that would actually and genuinely endanger the existence of this realm. And heavens have mercy upon the poor ⑨ that does.

Hecatia tells Aya that she lives in Gensokyo in AFiEU. She also says she has multiple bodies present at other worlds. Hecatia is sort of omnipresent. Her soul resides in hell (hells?) but her bodies inhabit multiple worlds.

The sages made Gensokyo, but Yukari did 400 (IIRC) of groundwork before that.

The barrier was proposed by the sages as a collective, before Yukari supposedly "laid the groundwork". The most recent source on both the "Hakurei Barrier" and the "Boundary of Fantasy and Reality", Strange Creators of Outer World, explicitly states that Yukari herself created the Boundary of Fantasy and Reality but fails to do so for the entire Hakurei Barrier. In her own profile for that issue, it specifically states she was only one part involved with the creation of the Hakurei Barrier and had the specific role of delineating who could or couldn't enter. The current narrative is that the sages collectively came up with created the barrier, not Yukari herself. This "god mythos" of Yukari has to end. The comments of some random speculating character in some manga mean nothing. You will have to live with this and once the other sages get any characterization or profile at all then your entire fanon narrative will be put in its place once and for all. Give up, the internet is available to anyone nowadays. Anyone can find, download, and read the sources themselves now. Biased wikis are in the past. You cannot hide behind the collective ignorance of the people anymore. This is not 2008, anyone has the power to read and download materials now. Give it up.

which is better, thinking that killing yourself will produce positive outcomes or thinking that killing yourself is what the enemy wants you to do
speculation about the origin and construction of the barrier is valid, it happened so long ago that even the memories of the 2hus aren't completely accurate
