Ron did not contact me, Mark did 1-2 days (depending on how you count) before he made the open letter to 8kun administration thread. I asked if 8kun staff was doing anything to improve the site and if they were then he probably shouldn't do anything drastic.
Meanwhile, I'd upgraded the bunker's VPS to a better plan (20 GB disk -> 40 GB disk and a slightly better processor) which involved a reboot of the system, which also involved the loss of the currently set firewall. When the server was brought back up, I totally forgot to reset the firewall (I have it automatically set now in case of any future reboots), leading to someone dumping and deleting the database. I spent a few hours on Saturday updating lynxchan, penumbralynx, mongodb and getting everything running and fixing the firewall so it would never happen again.
After he was removed from 8kun staff, Mark asked me to host /v/ until he could get his own site running and I agreed so long as it was temporary and that they didn't affect the rest of the site. Mark stayed for about a day and moved to fatchan so he kept his word.
I don't want to host any sort of long-term /v/ or video game board on the bunker because:
1) the bunker is supposed to be a backup in case 8kun goes down or becomes unusable, not the primary site
2) video game boards attract all sorts of autism and tribal behaviors and apparently a decades long feud between rival /v/'s (?) causing all manner of drama spilling over onto every other board
3) I wouldn't be able to moderate such a board if a suitable board owner couldn't be found
4) I really, really, really don't care about video games anymore and have become completely out of touch with the ironic shitposting from /v/, I can't remember the last time I laughed at a webm thread.
5) the site is hosted in canada so who knows what sort of laws it is subject to, having more content and more visibility leads to a larger window of vulnerability
if someone from /v/ wants help setting up their bunker I don't mind consulting.
My thoughts on the whole stink brought up: Mark overreacted, Jim was understandably furious, CM should reopen /sudo/ and post at least weekly updates on what's being worked on because for a few weeks here it seemed like shit was going to grind to a halt and wasn't getting better. Only recently (2-3 days ago?) did posting become usable.

I'm going to be honest but I neither like Mark nor the Administration because all I saw are two power tripping asshats doing shit and then having a feud at the expense of the userbase.
/v/ was always hectic. The "/v/ hate videogames" meme stems from how extremely critical they can get with every game. Thing is that while they can make valid critiques, they over do it with nitpicking to the point they suck out any sense of enjoyment from the gaming hobby. That's why /v/ had a reputation of "where your love of games go to die" back before exodus to 8chan.
However the drama that followed its way to the bunker is mostly Mark's personal vendetta with /cow/ and Julay. This is because despite Mark making fucks ups as BO, he used his real name to mod and puts his face out there for everyone to see which makes him a target with that self dox where his enemies will attack for what he is on top of what he does. This is because Mark at one point said he wanted to be famous like Moot which is why he doesn't use an alias, which was evident with his attention whoring and stunts like HWNDU, /v/ Video Game awards or that Sonic Mania early streaming.
Allowing Mark on the bunker was a mistake since the drama of his feud with /cow/ will just follow him and the last thing needed is for /animu/ is to get caught in an autistic crossfire.
/a/ has always been hostile to /v/ in every iteration of imageboards since the both boards were new on early 4chan because of how /v/ both cultures tend to have opposing flows despite overlaps in media including /jp/, the anime video game thread back then on /animu/ was comfy.
It's why the meidos made a /vg/ for themselves and only themselves while telling /v/ to fuck off because they discuss videogames without having to deal with their shit.
