Hey, /x/men (or whatever the fuck you people call yourselves). I am not a regular /x/ user, but I can't think of a board more likely to have an answer for this.

Last night, while sleeping, I was dreaming when suddenly I felt a sensation like a ring of energy exploding from my mind. The effect was so strong it woke me immediately. My wife and (I assume) my dog apparently felt nothing. I've never had this happen, before. It's possible it could have just been a part of the dream, but I was only talking to someone about mundane things unrelated to psychic explosions when it just happened. I also don't know why it would have woken me up if it was just a dream. There was no pain, just a feeling like something moving from my head outwards in a 2D ring that felt like pic related looks.

Has anyone here ever heard of such a thing?

First time I hear of something like this, however I know that when we sleep, our mind can translate physical events into dreams and visions. For example, if your body temperature rose to uncomfortable levels, you might dream that the house is on fire or something like that. Maybe there was something going on inside your brain/body like a sudden burst of energy which you pictured as a ring expanding from your head.

OP, here. I mentioned this event to my wife and she might have come up with the answer. It was hellaciously windy last night (could hear our trash cans blowing around the yard for hours), and very calm this morning. I'm thinking it was probably a sudden drop/jump (whichever is applicable) in the barometric pressure. I'm susceptible to headaches (childhood head injury) when the air pressure changes. She figures that must be what happened, and I'm inclined to agree. So I'm sorry for wasting your time and probably killing a thread, but I do appreciate you thinking about it.

Weird as hell, though, regardless of rational explanation. I've never had it do that, before.

When someone is dreaming, the brain in control of their nerves, not the environment. Say I was to dream I was sitting in the rain. I would be able to clearly feel the wetness of the rain hitting my skin, when in reality, there is no rain physically. Your brain probably just was going through memories and chemicals and messed something up to the point you felt something powerful enough to wake up. I wouldn't worry about it unless it would start to happen frequently. If so, I'd recommend visiting a psychiatrist or a neurologist to look into it.

I wasn't just falling asleep, though. Since you mentioned it, though, I have, on occasion, actually heard my name whispered in my ear as I fall asleep. Scared the shit out of me the first couple of times until I found out about that syndrome.

weird, people in 2+2chan said the same thing on the board /x/, i myself felt like the time is shifting, people in school acted normaly but i was sure that there's something (wrong?) with reality, i believe that something big is coming.
