Hear me out

Is it possible the mods of the internet forums have ways to find your true identity through your public IP and they can silence you from knowing certain conspiracy theories?

 No.41516

Nowadays practically every mod or at least admin works for or is being controlled by some government agency.

 No.41518

They use people with telepathic powers.

 No.41520

For someone outside an intelligence agency, your IP address is usually not enough to identify you unless they figure out a way to do social engineering with your ISP so that they reveal your identity. Such a thing has been done with phone numbers and phone companies many times. Regardless, your IP is an excellent corresponding clue that can be used for comparison with other data as it publicly reveals a rough geographic area (usually not corresponding to an exact street address, however). Be wary of which websites you trust. Intelligence agencies don't need a fulltime employed spy in the moderation team. They just need someone to snitch for cash or snitch under the pressure of their blackmail. If you say something that enrages the powers that be, your post could be available on a forum for over a decade along with a record of the IP you used at that time just waiting to be seen by the wrong authority. Even if a website's administration is trustworthy now, years later they may not be but they could have access to the same private records as the old administration.

Do you mean 8chan? Because, speaking as a BO of two minor boards and a former mod of one of the top 10, no, we can't see that info.

>Nowadays practically every mod or at least admin works for or is being controlled by some government agency.

This is true. I was kidnapped at a young age and put through the Monarch training. I am now a sleeper agent for the DMV.

Actually, we can. You just have to enable it in the settings (it's turned off by default, probably for security reasons).

Big if true! No one should have that kind of power.

Where did you "turn this on"?

Did you edit this in?

I own a board and there is no such option.

Anyone can create a board and see for themselves. It's really easy to verify this.

Anyone can save and edit the html to put in some fake IPs. Show a screenshot of the option as well.

Relax, Ron. The IPs are from a random IP generator. Sorry for making you worry!

>Even though this comes as a joke to you, do I really need to remind you you are the Board Owner of /x/, where users are "a tad" paranoid?

Well, that's the joke. It wouldn't be /x/ if it wasn't scary from time to time, would it? But I promise I'll be more careful from now on. I appreciate 8chan's strong stance on user privacy and didn't realise this could have led some people to seriously question it (even if only for a couple of hours).

>8chan does not have information we don't need because you can't leak what you don't have.

No wonder you got a bunch of years-old achieved threads leaked in that April 1st hack
