I was watching this documentary on Youtube called 'The Other Land of the Gods' and they mentioned the fact that after the Romans defeated the Thracians (Indo-European tribes who lived in southeastern Europe), they made statues in their honour, and those statues were huge, up to 3 metres tall (that's 10 feet for you americans).

So they asked, what if those statues were made to resemble what actual Thracians looked like? What if they were really that tall and that's the reason the Romans were so impressed by them? They showed a few Thracian bracelets that were too big for a normal human arm, and also a helmet that's too big for a human head. Of course archaeologists have come up with alternative explanations for these objects, but they're ridiculous. For example, they say that Thracians wore the big helmet on top of another helmet. Seriously?

To add to the pile of evidence in favour of this theory, there's the story of Maximinus Thrax, a Thracian soldier who became Roman emperor from 235 to 238. According to ancient sources, he was 250 cm tall (about 8'6'') and enormously strong.

I'm going to try and find more information that could confirm the theory. If I should stumble upon any other interesting story about giants, I'm going to post it here.

>Build statues in their honor.

Thank god it collapsed.

No, the stories were probably fellatio fantasies to praise them, Rome wasn't built in a day but they say it was.

What's wrong with recognising your enemies' valour? It makes your victory all the more glorious.

>No, the stories were probably fellatio fantasies to praise them, Rome wasn't built in a day but they say it was.

How do you explain the size of those objects or the accounts about Maximinus's height?

I WAS referring to his height.

If the man truly was said height then he and his group must be around 6 feet like Norway but no more.

I highly think these are just exaggerated stories tho.

There's a thread on page 16 I think talking about giants that were 10 meters tall. I suggest checking that out.

Good thread. Yes i agree without knowing actually anything about this theory.

I don't see why it couldnt have been, in africa too there were a tribe of unusually large people and in america you have some massive basketball players because the slaveowners deliberately bred big dudes togethe so that they could carry more. so they say. well, everything is a lie anyway with the jewing of civilization.

Okay, this is a bit crazy, like the silicon trees theory, but it's probably something you've never thought about. What if these Egyptian statues have giant skeletons inside them? Like those Buddha statues in India with mummified monks inside…

My great-grandfather was a rather huge man, and his father, from what I've heard, was taler.

I was reading a history book talk about the sheep mud sculptures of Mesopotamia and got me thinking if they started with a skeleton and added mud onto it. Really funny timing for me to see your post and that video.
