Interesting case, thanks for bringing it to our attention. The fact that his 6-year-old son had a sexually transmitted disease is extremely suspicious. Did he exhibit any abnormal behaviour that might suggest he was being molested in the months prior to the murders? If this guy was a psychopath, it's possible that he was selling his son to some pedophile. The semen stain could be explained with the murderer raping the wife before killing her. Do you know if there was any evidence of sexual assault on any of the family members?

However there's also the possibility that Feeney really was innocent. Maybe he was simply a jerk who had stepped on the wrong foot, and someone decided to make him pay for it. If this is true, the murderer might still be living in your city. I don't know if it's a good idea to go digging in the past, you might be playing with fire OP.

On the other hand, if Feeney had suspected that a certain person had killed his family, he would have named him during the trial, right? But maybe he was afraid that if he did that, he'd end up dead too…

Why don't you go ask the police for more information? Some of them must surely remember the case and they might be willing to help you. If you're lucky you might even be able to talk to one of the officers who investigated it.

Should have mentioned, this happened back in 1996. Info is very sparse. My guess is he got one of his side-lovers to do it while he was out of town, so he could collect the benefits, and get off scott-free. This is all just wild guessing though, still got lots of digging to do. Apparently he was interviewed on Dateline in 1997, but I'm having a bitch of a time finding it.

This might be the degeneracy seeping in from all my time spent on chans, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is that the dad was selling his kid (heck maybe doing it for free) to some other dude to fuck, in the safety of his own home.

Perhaps the wife was in on it too (otherwise it'd be mighty bold to let this occur on his own marital bed - also, what did the wife do for a living? Out of the house regularly in the evenings or weekends? And how old was the daughter?). If the wife was not in on it, then she may have found out, which would prompt the murders - but I think this doesn't quite fit, because these murders were planned in advance. If the wife found out, she would have been murdered immediately out of panic, and the kids murdered alongside her for reasons - perhaps because "poor kids can't live with their mother dead by murder; its a mercy to kill them as well" or for the complete freedom from the entire family to start a fresh life.

Also it's not entirely uncommon for dads who fuck their own kids to share their kids with other degenerates. His inappropriate behavior with his students (trying to befriend them with alcohol and games) implies he himself was a pedo.

If this is the case, my money is on the dad-friend-boy-diddler for the murders, in collaboration with the dad.

The dad made sure everyone knew when he would be out of town, and how far out of town he would be, because if a whole shitload of people were not made aware that he was going, it would have been the obvious course for the police to ask "Who knew the man was going out of town and so knew when to strike?" and go after those few individuals, or singular individual.

If I were the police, my prime suspect(s) would be the dads best adult male friend(s).

He may have offered to split the insurance payout with this person (obviously he never would actually do so) or perhaps the person was happy for the opportunity, and just did it for free.

tl;dr, dad told the guy he let diddle his son to murder his family while he was out of town. The murderer spared special attention to the son (slow intimate death by strangulation) he'd been diddling, and just quickly bludgeoned the two females down-to-business style.

It is also possible the the semen stains on the bed were from the wife having an affair, (If that were the case the husband could have found out she was cheating leading him to murder her, and then the kids for above stated raisins) but the course that leads us down doesn't neatly explain the hep or the pedo grooming behaviour of the dad toward his students.

Not to mention, if a pedo in a sham marriage found out his wife was cuckolding him would he care enough to be pissed about it?

I suppose it's also possible that the teacher was a hetero hebe, and not a gay diddler, since he apparently had affairs with grown women in addition to being weird with students, and the boy caught his hep from a completely unrelated diddling.

But I'm stuck on the dad getting a close male friend of his to do it, because he was obviously in on the murders, hence the intentional alibi planning/weaving, and I doubt it would have been a female lover of his that did the murdering cause honestly how often to ladies bludgeon anyone to death like that?

And I doubt a common hit man did this either - the payment would have had to have been given to a hitman after the husband received the payouts from life insurance and I'm sure those insurance payouts took an awful long time to come about, not to mention if the police were not completely incompetent they would have been watching his accounts for large transfers to any individuals for a long time after the murders. No hitman would kill 3 people on the promise of a payment they might not see for years to come.
