I like it. It looks aliased though. Either the scaling has gone wrong or it's a jpeg issue. It seems like png works better for these very small dimension images in some cases, so that might be worth a try. That image though, I think it's the scaling.
Logo is too big in my opinion. I could be good to have one with a big logo but not in the corner like that or with the black drop shadow. Can you post a larger version of the banner without the logo because I would love to experiment with it.

These are really good. Excellent and imaginative concepts . You've 100% got the knack of using an image in such a small space. I absolutely love the gifs but the third and fourth images are really funny and charming too.
My only critism is the logo. Because it's in the corner I think you should just commit to that rather than leaving slivers on image on the side. Slight nitpick on the first gif, notice the top left corner and that pillar changing colour.

You need the template for the corner logo so it's more crisp. Can't really fault this one apart from to point out that minor issue. I'll post a few in a bit. Well done, this banner is fun and has a lot of character.

Thanks! I'm just having fun having something interesting to do while trying to figure out a new program. And yeah that's a good point, having the edges of the images peaking from behind the logo is somewhat distracting.
I'll probably make more later if I find any images I think would be good for a banner.

Your jpeg export is a bit faulty because the larger one shouldn't show an improvement over jpg. That's either gimp or the quality settings. If gimp is bad at that, try copy and pasting the flattened image into paint.net then save. The smaller image looks a lot better though, specifically the artefacts around her eyes and nose are gone. Mind you it could be down to gimp's export.

Oh right, I can see there are two problems. First, scaling down an image with a lot of effects on it already won't work. You have to apply the effects afterwards. It would look better because the effect would be visible rather than being reduced to the subpixel. Second, the aspect ratio is different as you squashed down the image vertically. That will always look off.

It shouldn't be skewed at all but nevertheless both versions of that look so much better. It's a night and day improvement.
Basically never change the aspect, that's my advice. Instead find a different image or perhaps try rotation. If your image editor has a live crop with transform, try it. Sometimes you have to extend out the image into the corners (you'll see what I mean) but you may find that simple with the clone stamp or similar tool.
