Honestly this is the best JRPG from the SNES era that nobody played. It was initially to be localized but never released outside of Japan. A shame too as I could have seen it considered up there with the likes of FF6 and CT.

It's fan translation by Gideon Zhi of AGTP has only recently received it's final revision, I feel that if it were fully translated in the late 1990s like FFV was it would've been regarded as something of a cult classic.

It's been in my backlog ever since I saw it in import sections of gaming mags aeons ago, but I've still yet to give it a shot.

What's the combat system like, anon? I rarely bother with JRPGs any more because the combat's almost always dull.

The latest version I find is 2.0, released 7 years ago.

You sure you're not thinking of Treasure of the Rudras, which I know they recently released a v2.1 patch for?

Pretty unique.

I'll give it a bash some time soon.

That looks like something I might like, actually. Sort of turn-based strategy-esque.

>Still no smt:if progress

I think that hipster faggot lost the files and is too afraid to say it. The patch was supposed to be practically done about a year ago. He kept talking about it on twitter last year and suddenly he goes silent, retweets pure crap and floods his twitter with things no one cares about to bury those tweets.

If so, maybe that should be a good example of why one shouldn't take on that many projects at once as being active, or at the very least back his stuff up elsewhere (if only just to a USB drive) in case it gets lost? If he did lose the files for SMT if… though, would he at least let someone else take a crack at making a translation patch rather than leaving it tied up like the other thirty translation projects that he's got listed as "active?"

On that note, the fact that Square-Enix is apparently localizing the remake of Romancing Saga 2 (but only the mobile version of course), it makes me wonder if the SFC fan translation will wind up cancelled out of "respect" or whatever for the localization. Of course his webpage says nothing, but he hasn't made a news entry since last June.

You're right though, the complete silence on that, or anything after the 2.1b Treasure of the Rudras patch on his actual site is odd to say the least, and as I don't make a habit of digging around on twitter (I really hate social media) I have no clue what, if anything, he's been up to on the fan translation end since then.
