Winners don't use drugs, except for that Kevin kid that always mugged me for my lunch money at the Street Fighter 2 machine

Anyone else hoping they combine Quest 64 and Quest: Brian's Journey, then remake it?

Brian's Journey had the story, cutscenes, and completed areas. Quest 64 had the graphics and music. A remake would be glorious.

 No.2686

It makes me wonder who owns the rights to the "Quest" IP though. Honestly it's one of the few games I think needs a remake or sequel, it needed a lot more to push it into the right direction

 No.2702

>>2686

THQ owned it before, but no one's claimed it since they went down.

 No.2704

Oh, and if they do remake it, they should get this guy to do the music:

 No.2709

>>2702

I wonder if the team that worked on it even developed games anymore.

Always assume they're now making mobile shit.

>check Imagineer's website because it's been forever since you've actually seen their logo anywhere

>it's exclusively full of mascot character mobile/3DS derpery

The fuck? They DEFINITELY aren't fit to remake the game now!

Maybe some Quest 64/BJ's dev teams jumped ship and are off producing wonderful things.

 No.2723

>>2720

Likely, but we can't let them work on it if they're still in Imagineer.

 No.2724

>>2719

I wonder if even less than 1/7 of the people at Imagineer even worked on Quest 64.

Though if it was remade they'd probably release it Vita/3DS/iOS. I wonder what they'd call it though. Quest? Quest 2: More Questing, Quest 2: Magic Questaloo?

Quest 2 was going to be a thing and then they FUCKING SCRAPPED IT

THERE WAS A CHOICE BETWEEN A BOY OR A GIRL

FUCK I AM STILL MAD ABOUT THIS

 No.2732

>>2725

Seriously? Why did they scrap it? Money problems?

They could've righted the wrong that is the original Quest and even then it had its moments.

That sounds baller as fuck.

http://www.unseen64.net/2009/11/28/quest-64-ii-2-n64-cancelled/

Shit was gonna be so damn great, but they just HAD to run into financial trouble. Damn, I wish Kickstarter was around back then.

The one news article in there is in Dutch. If anyone wants to translate it, please do. I need to know what it says.

 No.2737

>>2736

Oh, and also this was posted to IGN prior to the cancellation:

 No.2747

I remember staring at this game when I was young and wondering if it was worth $60.

 No.2751

>>2736

Damn, sounded like it could've been a huge improvement

 No.2757

>>2751

Nintendo's got a Twitter account. Why not start a tag asking them to remake Quest 64?

 No.2770

I don't know what this comfy feeling is, but there are certain games I dumped hours into and loved that were, across the board, shit on by the game reviewing industry (i.e. Quest 64, Enemy Zero, Yo Noid!, TMNT) and for some reason I get more of a comfy nostalgic feeling thinking about them then I do when thinking about the games that were always considered "great" that I also loved.

 No.2775

>>2770

They weren't made for everyone, a very specific audience.

 No.2777

>>2757

So #BringBackQuest64?

 No.2782

>>2777

I think so, yeah.

 No.3869

I don't think anybody remotely cares about Quest 64.

But I like to think back to a time where 3D games were ported to a 2D hanheld. Won't ever see that again.

 No.3871

>>3869

I think I agree with that general sentiment - especially seeing some of the very rough 2D->3D pap that's still peddled on the 3DS.

But I'm struggling to remember a single great game that was originally 3D and had developers who cared enough to put any effort into making the transition to 2D.

Daikatana GBC?

I made a list of handheld ports I know of:

Armorines

Radikal Bikers

Rayman

V-Rally

Turok

Driver

Daikatana

Kirikou

Gex

Turok

Space Station Sillicion Valley

Azure Dreams

BattleTanx

Croc

Portal Runner

Hype: The Time Quest

GTA 2

Perfect Dark

Alone in the Dark

Resident Evil

Pong: The Next Level

Tomb Raider

Tonic Trouble

Tony Hawk

Wacky Races

Top Gear

Worms Armageddon

Carmageddon

Oddworld

Colin Rally

Moorhuhn

Polaris SnoCross

Mario Tennis/Golf

Cruis'n Exotica

Rampage: World Tour

Scooby-Doo! Classic Creeper Capers

New York Racer

World Destruction Leage

Few of them are to the GBA, but whatever.

Radikal Bikers, V-Rally and Turok were made by Bit Managers, so they are pretty good.

Perfect Dark, Alone in the Dark and Resident Evil got ports that run in the hi-color mode. Pretty impressive stuff.

Rayman, Gex, Tonic and Croc got good ports. Driver, Daikatana, Oddworld Adventures, Mario Golf/Tennis and Azure Dreams are pretty great.

Ofcourse there are a lot of multi-plat license games, but I didn't want to bother with those.

 No.3877

>>3876

Not sure about a lot of those, but Mario Tennis and Golf were pretty damn good.

I'm actually pretty curious as to how Alone in the Dark went…

 No.3890

I remember thinking this game was fucking horrible. Did I miss out on anything? Is it worth going back to and giving it another shot?

 No.3893

>>3890

Never gave it a shot myself. The only thing I do remember of it was that it was panned pretty thoroughly at the time.

>inb4 gaems journalism

I wish the anons in this thread who apparently love it so much would tell us why it was rad.

1. The magic system is unique. You had to actually experiment to find out all of the spells, and then either memorize them or write them down. It's like… First you need this many levels in each element to do this, and then you have to combine two elements to make this… IIRC LV2 Water + LV2 Earth = Healing Spell, but LV2 Earth + LV2 Water did nothing. It wasn't just "oh any combination of these array of elements makes this one spell".

2. Giant overworld. Or, at least it seems giant. The way they arranged it makes it feel huge. It feels A LOT bigger than any other N64 game's world. The world feels as big as a lot of fantasy games today, honestly.

3. The music gets you pumped and fits every area perfectly. It makes the dangerous areas feel dangerous, the safe areas feel peaceful, and the important areas feel important. It's not just "oh here's a town song I made it is for towns". The music feels dynamic, in a way, and it has ranges of emotion.

4. A lot of the graphics are amazing for the time. Some of the models could hold up to stuff from the Gamecube era, honestly.

5. Intuitive level up system. Want to make your physical hits stronger? Hit more enemies with your staff. Want to get more health? Take more hits. Want to get more MP? Use more magic. It's just different from RPGs at the time.
