I don't want to say no, but I don't want to say yes. Conceptually, it shares elements as far as army vs army is concerned, but it plays very differently.
I'd liken it much more to a childhood favorite of mine, Defender of the Crown, but with no siege tactics, but fuller 2D side scroll battles of army vs army, RPG elements as far as magic and items that can effect those battles, and political decisions to make in between battles as far as building castles, exploring areas on the map, exploring your own castles, raising armies, rewarding generals, and recruiting captured generals
