Last I checked, the prey is dead by the time it's in the snake's stomach, and I'm pretty sure dead things don't squirm.

Snakes don't swallow live struggling prey, especially not that size. Maybe little things eating frogs but that's about it unless everything I know about nature is wrong.

This is true, but snakes do swallow some prey alive, either by accident or because it is too small to pose a threat and will suffocate long before it could do real danger (snakes sometimes swallow insects and smaller snakes alive, for instance). But it is extremely uncommon, and dangerous for the snake.

There was that guy on youtube years back who uploaded vids of him feeding live chicks and mice to his snake(s?) and he filmed them struggling inside. They're probably gone from youtube by now but I'm sure they're still out there somewhere.
