Do you have any estimations as to how much ads, if any at al,l can offset costs so as to lessen the burden of paying for a hypothetical 8chan.moe? I recall Jim saying that the site operates at a loss although it does accrue thousands of dollars in revenue every month or so. Also, site protection. In the event that it does happen, how would it defend itself without Cloudflare; I doubt they would give you Odin if the decision is ever made to break away from 8kun.

Let me reiterate that I will ONLY split from Jim and Ron, IF the situation becomes too grim that I no longer have confidence in this site. That said…
>Do you have any estimations as to how much ads, if any at al,l can offset costs so as to lessen the burden of paying for a hypothetical 8chan.moe?
We'd likely have to implement an 8chan gold like feature to offset costs, in addition to ads for free users. Additionally something I'd like to do is to have people make their own ads in an easy and simple way, rather than the clusterfuck we had previously.
>I recall Jim saying that the site operates at a loss although it does accrue thousands of dollars in revenue every month or so.
8chan has much more content and bandwidth than vch did, additionally back in august 2019 before the whole deplatforming thing, we had about 50 million users a month when vch only had 300,000.
>site protection. In the event that it does happen, how would it defend itself without Cloudflare
We'd likely use Vanwaware instead of Cloudflare, since it's not Nick's fault that 8chan runs on shit software. Additionally Odin is just a glorified TOR2Web service, and is only a temporary solution despite what marketing had us believe. I was really fucking pissed about it too

KILL YOURSELF KIKE!
You can pay for server simply with your welfare money. Stop pretending that you need 6 gorrilion bucks per month to run a fucking imageboard. Imageboards are a place for people to talk freely about things they like, not a place that is meant to milk cash from.
Fuck you. I will never support a site with kike gold features. And if you think I will disable my 3 layers of adblocks, you're fucking delusional.

What software would this hypothetical 8chan.moe run? Infinity/OpenIB is shit software by your own words. NPFchan, which vch ran on, is abandoned and the developer is doing a re-write. There's no redeeming Vichan/Infinity/OpenIB. It's shit foundation built upon shit foundation and shit added on top. Every fork of Vichan eventually burns itself out and ends up doing a complete re-write. Lynxchan is the most complete alternative, but it's completely lacking in the massive feature-rich environment that Vichan as accumulated over the years. So you either bite the bullet and move to Lynx, giving you vch 2.0 with greatly reduced mod tools but not as lacking as vch's npfchan, or you go on a fool's quest to salvage this current software that's going to lead to nowhere because the codebase is utter shit. It's a rock and a hard place. Vichan has so many features and options not many want to leave it, but its failures are quickly forcing people too. And the largest competitor, Lynxchan, is utter shit too in it's own ways with how much of a gigantic pain in the ass it is to change any little thing in it.
Best bet is hoping some nonOpenIb/Lynx/Vi* project matures enough to use instead. Also Josh/null is trying to relaunch Infinity Next 2.0, but you know how that's going to end up like. He failed the first time, he failed the second time, and he's going to fail again.

Yeah, it's entirely possible. which is one of the reasons I'm considering bringing back the bunker either as a secondary site or the main site.
>>16904816
I'll watch how Infinity Next 2.0 goes, if it actually works then I'll likely be forced to do that. Unless NPFchan is also getting a rewrite which in that case I'll just use that.

Well it depends on how we go about the branding. People don't want to go on 8kun or Julay World. They want 8chan back, so what we need to do is bring back the infinitechan name but altered in a way where it looks like its own thing.
