What are some excellent (preferably multiplayer but in no way necessary) games where you can heal, revive, treat, etc other players or NPCs with an emphasis on combat medicine?
I find it very fun to play a combat medic for the squad, but it's also satisfying keeping soldiers more alive and less dead in RTS and RTT when I can

If you can put up with it's autism, arma 3 with the ace mod has pretty realistic heal systems. The game is near exclusively multiplayer, but modlists make joining a group a requirement. 3 bullets of almost anything will do enough damage to knock out a person, so you'll be pretty occupied.

EDF has one of the best revive system ever, you rescue your teammates by donating a percentage of your current health so the more health you got the more your teammate respawn with more health and it's instantaneous unlike other coop games.
I think this rescue system adds more risk compared to other games

yeah it's a good health system but I wish it healed properly
>if you heal a wing diver as a fencer, you lose more overall health if the wing diver's armor capacity is low & the fencer's armor capacity is high enough, that the person you revive is overhealed and the missing health in that heal is just gone and taxed onto the reviver

That revive system was also in Spiral Knights, before they fucked it up. It was more splitting your current health down the middle and since health drops were rare the overall total health of the party was shared.

Try SS13 and choose the colonial marine server.
You can choose to be a combat medic or even a doctor.
There are 4 different tipe of damage, plus blood loss. If you want to revive someone, you must first try to fix him and no many times you cant revive them because they are too fucked up.

SS13 and its variants are one of the few games I can think of that have even really tried to make a nuanced medicine sub-game in a multiplayer environment. In most genres going into detail there would be seen as unnecessarily getting in the way of getting players back into the game.

I would believe that. I've only played a few Arma mods, though, so I can't really say one way or the other as the ones I played were still pretty basic. Mostly the changes were allowing people to drag or carry injured folks. Then again, the people I played with tended to want medicine, at least, to be more casual, so I might've just missed out.

Guild Wars 1 had the most satisfying healing I've ever found in a video game because it's 70% reading the flow of combat and dropping defensive buffs on people the heartbeat before they start taking damage. When you get into it it's what aikido retards pretend aikido is, little nudges and preemptions and redirections and when it all goes just right it looks like you never did much at all.

Came here to say this. It's autistic as fuck but it feels good to be working on people, with a genuinely deep injury system, while the guys around you have absolutely no idea what you're doing because they're dumbfuck grunts.

to elaborate slightly, in WoW pretty much half of the classes can act as healers no matter what expansion you are playing in, making it an ideal game for people who are obsessed with healing others

With Tigrex armor and some gems n shit you can get
>WIDE RANGE 5 (Has everyone around you get healed whenever you drink potions)
>MUSHROOMMANCER 3 (Can eat mushrooms for certain effects and buffs)
>FREE MEAL 3 (Chance not to consume consumable item)
>ATTACK UP 7 (So I dont hit like a wet noodle)
>CRIT BOOST 3 (Same reason as above)
RUN AROUND AND CHUG POTIONS, HEAL YOUR TEAM, BUFF EVERYONE WITH MUSHROOMS, BEAT THE MONSTER WHILE ITS DOWN, PISS GREEN BY THE END OF THE HUNT
By playing as support I saved multiple otherwise fucked quests from assured failure.
I also remember playing Xenoblade and one of the ways to heal was by catching the timed button presses and generally kicking ass, there are no healing items or potions in the game at all, the in game reason was that the potion shop was closed. So no potions from the potion seller.

America's Army was rather unique as milsims go; the US army funded its creation not as a recruitment tool as is commonly though, but as an anti-recruitment tool to weed out CoD kiddy types who couldn't hack it in real boot camp

Going to have to triple up on Arma 3's ACE mode with medical settings turned up to maximum autism. It organically creates amazing scenes in multiplayer.
>be 8 man squad
>having a shoot out with enemy insurgents
>have to withdraw to LZ and evac as enemy numbers are overwhelming
>cover the 500 meters of open ground with sprinting and machine gun fire
>someone gets hit
>entire squad turns to cover fire while medic swoops in to stabilize
>with the bleeding slowed we carry the casualty, now unconscious, to a one room farm house nearby the LZ
>enemy forces encircle the house at range, small arms fire smashing against the walls
>players within fight a desperate battle down to the last magazine awaiting air support
>medic in the building is surrounded by soldiers, doing everything to stabilize a rapidly deteriorating casualty
>tourniquets on wounded limb, packing gunshot wounds
>check blood pressure and find it is too low so hold off on morphine
>casualty stops breathing, so begin CPR
>small arms fire rages through the building as soldiers swap out of conducting CPR
>patient begins breathing again
>MEDEVAC arrives with gunship escorts
>insurgents withdraw immediately
>carry casualty onto chopper as the squad provide security
>spend the fifteen minutes airborne treating the casualty with the blood and saline onboard the helo
>land at airbase and rush casualty into surgery
>he makes a full recovery

I bought arma 3 but never played it in ages and don't want it to be a waste of money.
I once had to hitch a ride for miles, like actually 20-30 fucking minutes realtime or so just to get our car blown up by a mine or missile before my squad even entered the firefight, then I respawned where I originally started. The amount of autism this game requires from me to enjoy it is fucking colossal apparently.
How do I learn how to deal with the autism so I can have amazing stories like in 2d8b2c's post?

Don't join public servers without friends or you're in for a terrible experience. Not just an average experience, I mean a terrible experience. I'd rather eat crushed glass than join a public server by myself because it just ends in rage quit after wasting thirty minutes.
Instead, join a group. Try to find non milsim groups unless you enjoy simulating paper work and filing for NATO stock numbers. Specifically you want to join a group which runs 'Zeus' missions which is basically one player acting as a Game Master and creates the scenario in real time around the players as they move through the world.
I used to run an Arma 3 server on 8chan/vg/ but the Linux box I was running it on imploded, then a few months later some Aussie mad lad got 8chan banned from the internet. I always think about starting it back up but at $40 a month, it's a bit of an investment
