didn't see a thread on 8kun yet, so I decided to make one

New trailer for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous released:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uye3rHmXk_Q

new stuff introduced:

>Mythic Paths system, which are basically unique sub-classes for your main character that give you game-breaking powers, etc.

>camera can now be rotated 360 degrees, which also means environments will be more unique and detailed.

>kingdom management from Kingmaker dumbed-down in favor of just managing armies to fight the demon hordes, kinda like a game of Risk, but is still essential to winning the game

>Oleg (chief dev.) says he wants less time pressure on players in WotR than was in Kingmaker

>new classes added: Bloodrager, Arcanist, Oracle, Witch, Shaman, Warpriest, Cavalier, Skald

>What is Pathfinder?

Pathfinder is basically a spin-off of D&D 3.5 Edition rules made by the company Paizo Publishing, and is set on the fantasy world called "Golarion". In 2018, a based slav studio called Owlcat Games made Pathfinder: Kingmaker, where you play as a person who inherits a wild land that you must civilize and protect from rivals and monsters. It mainly functions as an isometric party-based RPG, with some strategic management elements viewed from a world map.

tl;dr: It's Baldur's Gate + Civilization

>What is Wrath of the Righteous?

The campaign setting of the new game, which takes place near/inside the borders of the "World Wound", an area on northern Golarion where part of the Chaotic Evil plane known as The Abyss had merged with the material plane; and demons began to spill-out and fuck things up. There are magic pillars that create a magic barrier to keep the demons contained, but some of them break and this leads to a worldwide crisis. You play as a character who becomes a general of an army sent to slay the demons and rebuild the pillars, and you have to complete quests with your party members, while also managing the crusader armies on a world map and dealing with different leaders and officials in order to boost your economy/power. You're not limited to being a "good" or "lawful" character either. For example, many Lawful Evil factions such as the Hell Knights hate the demons also for being chaotic nihilists who just want to destroy everything, whereas the Hell Knights would rather have some plebs/lands to rule-over. You can also just play as a Chaotic Neutral person who's in it for the valuable artifacts and loot. Pathfinder rules make your character very customizable, even letting you mix like 5 or 6 different classes if you want; and now there is a new edition called "Mythic Paths".

You should probably talk about how they went from one of the least pozzed (but still very pozzed) campaigns with Kingmaker into one of the most with this. That's what I heard the last time this was talked about, I don't have any experience with tabletop pozzfinder myself.

Kingmaker had a handful of faggots and bisexuals. I'm on chapter 5 and 275 hours in. It's not so in-your-face as AAA titles though.

Also most of the party members were straight, or didn't express interest in sex. Linzi was lesbo for a redhead bard from Pitax. Regongar will fuck anything that moves.

The cuck couple is bad enough really, but Kingmaker the Adventure Path is fairly tame. Wrath of the Righteous on the other hand from the sounds of it you can't go 20 feet without running into some kind of tranny who won't shut up about it or similar degeneracy.

Mythic Paths so far:

Lich - you become an immortal skeleton wizard who can create/control undead (shown in OP trailer)

Azata - you are descended from a based and redpilled ancient super-human civilization (with accompanying powers/buffs)

Angel - you literally become an angel (with bonus powers)

Demon - you literally become a demon (with bonus powers)

Legend - you are boring but still epic somehow

Trickster - you can manipulate the forces of luck to give yourself better dice rolls, also you're good at tricking people

Gold Dragon - one of your ancestors fucked a gold dragon (lawful good), and now you have gold dragon powers

Aeon - you are a lawful neutral enforcer of cosmic balance, like Judge Dredd with star magic

Could be. I'm sure someone could just look up the tabletop rules and answer that. My guess was more along the lines of it's the "versatility" option because it doesn't have any specific flavor of its own, so in practice that means you build your own with access to everything.

I actually wished they'd gone a little more into the half orc and half elf woman's story. There was an interesting story dynamic there where you had two lovers, freed from slavery and the conflict of having one who wants to settle down and have the real relationship he never thought he'd be allowed to have, and the other wants to finally enjoy the freedom to fuck or not fuck who she wants that she never thought she'd have.

The thing is you need a writer willing to go into both points of view, not just say "hurr, the half orc is sexist and overbearing for not wanting to be a cuck" and to not give an easy out like "the protagonist has super charisma and can just talk both of them into agreeing to a happy poly relationship.

It's D&D. never heard much about it, apparently the only real issues were with the level being set to mythic (playing on that level is always hit or miss in most systems) and some of the story simply being meh. never much about pozz.

even in the new 2e rulebook paizo dialed it back to a single "everybody's welcome" paragraph (iirc it was worse in the playtest but don't have the files around anymore to check) and according to rumor kicked out quite a few of their woketard staff (for being retarded or just to re-hire them cheaper as freelancers I don't know).

game itself is made by russians, and they're only slightly more tolerant for that shit than muslims. so I don't think there will be much of that shit at all, maybe a slight compromise of being able to choose pronouns or some shit, but never beamdog level.

for the Wrath Vidya we don't yet have much information on the party characters

the adventure path's supporting cast included a half-orc paladin (way to buck the trend) in a lesbian relationship (okay) with a transgender rogue (if you fucking must. It's a fantasy world and this has been supported since the 1e dungeon master's book so what the fuck ever) with a tearjerker so story about how the paladin sold her father's magic sword to buy a an elixir of sex shifting for the tranny (oh for fucks sake. It's literally 3 hours in a low level dungeon to afford one)

individually these elements bring color to the world. All in one place like this, that color is tiedye

longtime players may note that the bitch who wrote these characters is the same bitch who wrote Shardra Geltl, the iconic shaman tranny (you call yerself a dwarf?! What kind of proud dwarven lass betrays her family like that?!)

the poz in the AP lays off somewhat after the first volume thanks to her being removed from the project (apparently she was fired for shit talking on the forum). The AP still has sexy elements with you potentially forging an alliance with the first succubus Nocticula, and possibly redeeming her with your 18 inch charisma score (after this AP she begins ascending to a chaotic neutral goddess)

I never understood why such a phrase would even be necessary. It's a pen&paper game, the rules are not hard-coded into machine code that you cannot house-rule them. If people want to play a party where everyone is a tranny elf wizard who dilates with >her magic want, or play a party where everyone gases the (((gnomes))), no one is going to stop them.

it's a mix of people being retarded and lefties trying to "subvert" the hobby the same way they do everywhere - to the point toxic cunts like jessica price getting hired for some reason.

the hilarious part is that it shows that they have zero fucking clue how /tg/ stuff works, their usual antics simply don't work when everyone has it's own group and/or homebrews the fuck out of it.

the hobby itself is also hard to subvert in the first place since quality still reigns supreme, no one buys into a system or game that's shit and will never be played.

Wrath of the Righteous book one is literally written by the nut behind Siege of Dragonspear. Remember the tranny you had no option but to praise? It's worse here! There's a large chunk of the wordcount to how an NPC is transgender, with no way to actually use this and thus making it worthless even from the most basic design point of view. It also makes pretty much every design mistake a module could make without being The Forest Oracle (everything has major errors, NPCs make no sense, though it does have about equal linearity) or Avatar Trilogy (Mechanics that screw over half the classes in the game, incredibly retarded levels of railroading where everyone sees fit to bully literally powerless characters into marching into danger, no gameplay except random encounters and unwinnable fights) tier.

The future books aren't all that much better. Eventually you're told a deity is one of the PC's parents (this has a bunch of retardation I'll address in the next paragraph), in a sidebar that explicitly says it doesn't have any effect. This doesn't even matter when you meet a deity that could easily be the deity parent. That meeting is also terrible, featuring a lawful good paragon hitting the party with sonic damage and permanent conditions if they fail to answer random pop quizes.

The reveal can easily make no sense as early as character generation, even with very normal choices. Play a crusader that worships Torag, the god of the forge, strategy, honor and planning and is human like the majority of his worshipers? Well he's now your dad. Good luck explaining how that works when he's a dwarf and faithfully married. Play Dwarf who has taken up the deity of paladins (a former mortal)? Good luck explaining the race problem, how mom's black hair and green eyes were recessive, or why she's attacking you for failing trivia questions.. The god of magic, who is a black guy that migrated to fantasy Egypt to proclaim himself their god-king and everyone just accepted this foreigner doing that because he was a massively powerful mage? In addition to the ethnicity problem, there's also the problem of said god having gone crazy after a brief bit of omniscience so good luck explaining how he has kids. The dead god of humanity, since nothing says anything about the god being alive? Amazingly this one has the least problems! His Atlantian ethnicity is extinct after diluting into the general human population, so that's not an issue, his non-appearance can be excused by the whole "is dead" thing, and one of the mythic options makes the player a psuedo deity that could pick up the still unclaimed portfolio of humanity.

I've been trying to play kingmaker but the roleplay part is giving me aids. Every dialog option tied to alignment is an absolutist retardation with a complete lack of nuacnce. It happens all the time but a specific scene comes to mind when you party up with the nigger ranger and reach the troll castle. At one point before the boss there you encounter the boss's kids who are infant rock trolls and the ranger is about to shoot them down when the game gives you two choices.

You either let encourage him, which is categorised as evil or prevent him, which is seen as good.

Anyone here who has read any amount of Machiavelli can tell that letting kids survive the murder of their parents will only cause more trouble down the line when said kids embark on a quest for revenge. Especially when those are powerful magical creatures able to terrorise the countryside and have no problem feasting on human and humanlike flesh. Me, playing a paladin, would have been aware of the consequences of not culling the trollets and this scenario would have been a good moment to expose such a dilemna of which is the lesser evil inbetween lawfull retarded compassion where all living beings deserve to live or the longer term peace afforded by the cleansing of a dangerous and evil race from these lands, also considering I'm running a fucking barony not 2 miles away.

But nope, game avoids any semblance of dilemna and instead goes full "SAVE GOOD KILL BAD" route, with the characters making borderline 4th wall breaking comments about it (and dont let me start about the fucking companions they're all cancerous 1 dimensional trash who never evolve or change, like a fucking one liner given form). Another example of the shit dialog is when you're trying to save some wizard from 3 trolls beating him in melee and the faggot is busy casting spells to be sure to eat as many opportunity attacks as he can. If you fail to keep him alive (you will unless you're a save scummer, which I am) the fag will comment about "if only you had came sooner I would be alive and bla bla". Bitch, we dont know each other and in order to learn about you I had to do some investigation and you have the balls to bitch and moan in your dying breath (that you have the priviledge to spout because I killed the monsters faster than you tried to kill yourself) and act as if you were some fucking princess locked inside a tower with every knight in the land in a race to smash that pussy? It came across as meta as fuck and infuriating ontop.

TL;DR, Pathfinder Kangmaker's dialog is hot garbage written by unidimensional thinkers who contextualise ingame morals without any ingame morality and is more interested into lecturing you while pretending that everyone is a special snowflake instead of presenting a coerent and believable world worth fighting for and I wish I had pirated it instead of wasting money for a 5th grade tier roleplaying experience.

Well, the party members in Kingmaker were actually the player characters the developers made when they sat down to play the module. That's why some characters were actually passable stat-wise, some where complete shit, and then there was one faggot who actually played Amiri, the pre-made barbarian.

Going on that information, I'd expect there to be another large set of custom characters, with a mix of some of the characters from the core story. That makes the potential party members completely unpredictable.

Other problems: You can't save the retard knight unless you're lawful good. You literally walk in on him getting his ass handed to him because he's a fucking retard. By this point in the game, you can have multiple abilities to heal him, or bring him back to life. If you don't, you just saved the other halfwit who, aside from acting as a plot device, also casts a variety of raise dead spells.

Another one: You find out the assistant to one of your craftsmen is fucking with her business by cursing everything she makes in order to drive her out of business. Your only options are let him go, work with him, kill him, or tell him you won't work with him which leads to you killing him anyway. However unless you want both on the same character or don't have martial proff by default, you can still get either of them for the cost of one feat (ie the human bonus feat). At that point the elf has the spell pen advantage, but if you are taking feats for exotic two-handed weapons you probably aren't much of a spellcaster.

I just started playing since 2.7 edition, and my main problem is that when you get to Chapter 4 or so, the DC of the "Problem" events are so high that none of the advisors have more than a 70% chance of passing them without spending Crisis Points. Some events even have a DC of like 38, lol fuck that shit; and that was on Normal.

I tried to level-up advisors evenly, but it turns out the best option is to just focus on like the General, Councilor, and High Priest and get them to level 6 or 7 as fast as possible.

I think I can still make it to the end of chapter 6 by blowing all my personal gold on Building Points and just bribing the plebs with feasts so they don't revolt. This must be how Roman emperors felt. Sucks because I wanted to buy some high-level resistance and AC items.

Even just selling the trash +1 and +2 items I found had me nearing a million GP. Couldn't even ask the artisans working for me to make me something good, just some ambiguous "make me a fast weapon" or "make me a potion".

Another issue I had with the game is it outright cheats at times. Playing a rogue is painful since enemies will just spot you without a spot check or something like true sight or lifesense, and occasionally they'll just nerf your stealth skill without any notice which leads to stupid shit like a rogue with 40+ points in Stealth having a stealth DC of less than 15.

Most of your gold comes from loot found in major dungeons. The Varnhold Vanishing questline ends with you going to Vordakai's tomb to rescue the kidnapped citizens, and there's a bunch of loot in there.

Also a fuckton of zombies and Soul Easters that drain your Wisdom permanently, which requires Restoration and Greater Restoration scrolls to fix. Make sure to take both Tristian and Harrim and, be level 12. It helps if you have a bunch of spells that give you buffs against Evil/Undead creatures such as Angelic Aspect and Eagle Soul. My MC is a Paladin so it was a bit easier for me. Even though I had to turn it on easy mode during that part where you fall into a cave full of sticky oil, with like 30 zombies in it, fuck that lol.

Here's an official list of all the items the Artisans can make:

https://www.neoseeker.com/pathfinder-kingmaker/loot/Artisan_Items_Crafter_Masterworks

Each Artisan has a "home town" that they appear in when you build a village in that region. You'll get a journal notification to go there and talk to them (look for NPCs in the village with a unique name). After you talk to them, they will be able to make "basic" items for you based on something general you request from them. They will also contact you at some point asking for a favor, which launches a sidequest. If you complete their sidequest, they unlock the option to make their unique "Masterwork" item, and also will generally make higher-level items for you from their per-generated list. Turning their home village into a Town or City, and giving their region Region Upgrades also increases the chances of them making you a better item.

Gaze attacks can be countered in tabletop by closing your eyes, which has the effect of granting the enemy total concealment. Blind fight helps against total concealment, though not completely. Because adding the option to close your eyes or not would be a bit too much complexity for a video game like this, they chose a compromise. You now automatically close your eyes to counter gaze attacks if and only if you have the blind fight feat, but the remaining penalty is removed since you no longer have the option to NOT do it either.

Also there are other ways to handle it. Freedom of Movement I believe negates the effect. I think I remember holy aura and other alignment-aura spells (regardless of enemy alignment) also granting immunity, but if they do that's something specific to the game and not pathfinder rules.

You can't just go to them and say "make me an awesome estoc" or "make me a +4 keen speed longsword", regardless of how much money you have. >Playing a rogue is painful

That's a hallmark of this genre, the most blatant case was all the way back in BG2 where you basically couldn't play a rogue at all until you got a cloak of non-detection. Even then, the AI would have enemy wizards chain cast true sight over and over again if you were stealthed near one because they just designed them to automatically do that regardless of skill checks and so they'd end up getting stuck in loops just trying to unstealth you even though you were immune to the spell.

Many CRPGs and most roguelikes emphasize combat so much that stealth is surprisingly often not about not being seen or detected, but rather just a way to generate damage. I imagine stealth classes in MMOs are the same way. The problem, of course, is that even if you give noncombat rewards for avoiding combat, even non-minmaxing players will want to go back and get the combat rewards, too. Then, of course, when there IS unavoidable combat–there must be at some point–you've done less of it than with other classes and might not have your kit and skills and tactics set up and ready. It's a difficult problem for RPGs to deal with because they haven't found a good way to abstract away thief-type gameplay like they've done with combat, and without thievery a rogue is either a crit-ninja or just a weak fighter. Good thief experiences, therefore, take a lot of meticulous building and effort–like quests–rather than just giving them a wider variety of things to hit and ways to hit them. It's a problem that's generic to the genre.
